  1. big fat YES.
  2. yep i know of a member on here who has done very very well for himself with a great setup, fancy equipment, flash vehicles etc but has had very sticky fingers in the not too distant past.
  3. today is like friday just gone, Horrific. Visibility is down to 400 meters and it's pishing doon.
  4. I was competing with 1 guy who was on sick benefit (bloody cheat) and was charging himself and a 'lad' out at £135 per day (for both of them with no chipper FFS !!!) I went in at £400 a day for me, groundy and a small chipper and we worked like dogs for a full 8 hour day. The customer bitched that the previous guy never did a full 8 hour day and felt 'he owed them' some hours, i almost laughed out loud at that statement. Some customers have no idea/concept of the kind of work and effort required and cannot quantify a task when it comes to steep terrain and difficulty in extracting old large brash piles with a winch in order to chip them. This particular customer was very very well off but wanted the work of 10 men and 2 chippers for the price of a basic 2 man set up. A mate of mine works everything out on day rate and never really makes decent money or profit. Eg. His day rate is him, a 6 inch chipper and a lackey for £250 per day !!!! He has quite alot of kit that he's bought out of his savings but it sits idle alot of the time and when he does get the work for it he barely covers his costs and makes a poor days wage for himself. I've tried to help out with his pricing but he just keeps doing work too cheaply in the hope it will 'lead to bigger and better things'. His planning is pretty bad too and come 3pm he's looking at his watch and wanting to be home by 4pm and then has to take it on the chin if he has to go back another day to finish off another 2 hours work.
  5. I have a dubble cab 4x4 pickup but a club cab wood be noicer as i cud do with the extra buck space.
  6. tellous wot it is John P ? got any specs etc ?
  7. A little on the full side!!!! If the roof lifts up/off then u cud trample and compact the chip down into the box and squeeze some more in, thats what i do as i have a tarpaulin sheet as a roof.
  8. yep but it'll stihl take over a cube to fill that chip box up, and i have been 'saved' several times by my similar sized chip box when my Ifor Williams trailer has been maxed out on capacity. This has meant i have only had to empty both once a day.
  9. Time ferra new chain and bar combo on the 360TES as the stock Oregon bar is made from philadelphia soft, spreadable cream cheese. I rang Radmore & Tucker in Exeter and they have a deal on at the moment on a new 14'' bar and chain for £30 but it's the same Oregon bar as original so i'm gonna give that a miss. Rang RobD's company and spoke to Lawerence, he was eggsellent to deal with as i'm not clued up on all the codes and terminology when it comes to chain specifications. I told he i wanted quality so ended up with a Sugihara Pro soild bar (with replaceable nose tip) and a chain to suit. All in all i spent about £75incl VAT/p&P on quality parts versus £30 for the stock lesser quality items. Will fit them this week and see how i get on.
  10. yep a PCSO was telling me deudder day that dogs were getting stolen for dog fights. I spotted 2 English travellers at Radmore & Tucker last week and they were asking me to sell them generators or did i have any rope i cud give them ! 2 hours later they rang me on my mobile and asked me to do a dismantle for them (they got my number off my vehicle), i declined.

    Hilux

or use a tarp (as a roof) with elastic shock cord stitched in all around the edges, light and easy to use.
  12. thas what i loike to see, a definitive answer from LoadhandlerUK. At least we know the product isn't 'dead in the water' so to speak. Thanks.
  13. It's the Toyota badge Marc, these are more robust than a a landrover defender and the enjuns are pretty basic but grunty.
  14. Alas i don't tink he did...
  15. yep thas alorra alorra mileage nice bit of kit but at that price i'd eggspect lower miles and a bit newer. s'not even a tipper.
  16. eBay item number:181803228371 Rare Hj 75 toyota Landcruiser pick up ute 2 h 70 series 75 series 80 series 60 | eBay
  17. yep i put my name down fer a loadhandler last year and they were having the problems mentioned above by 'Woodworks'. Seems the US parent company don't wanna play ball.
  18. tbh if i was on the hunt fer a replacement arb truck i wouldn't limit myself to this 3.5 ton malarky. I'd be looking at the older shaped 4x4 merc sprinter tippers (4 wheels on the rear axle) 4.6 ton gross, rear difflock, centre difflock and crawler gears. Used to drive one fer a utility arb outfit here in Devon but it had a mewp on the chassis instead of a tipping body. Or one of those Iveco 4x4's. The problem with some of this kit is it's very hard to locate/buy and spares can be tricky to get. Dunno what reliability is loike either but seeing as it's a Merc i'd be hopeful !
  19. yep i'd prefer a single cab Landcruiser pickup with a fully enclosed alloy chip box.
  20. i run BFG M/T's and they are on about 30k now and pretty heavily worn (done alot of road work) I tink they become pretty inefective in the mud at around 25k. How some people seem to be getting these massive miles out of a set of tyres is beyond me.
  21. well me and my mate have jump started the neighbourhood watch thing again around here as people have gotten lazy and careless. We got the local PCSO to come round and offer advice on the security etching service the police offer FOC and the alarmed padlocks they sell for £7.50 each (noisy deterrent), they also supply UV pens FOC to mark up laptops, dvd players etc etc. We are not averse to taking pics or noting down vehicle details when we feel it necessary. There have been a few robberies etc, but me and aforementioned mate know who the family are but without proof etc. The 'feds' are aware of this family too despite them not being from round 'ere loike. We'll make their 'time in this area' as difficult as possible.
  22. looks like it still needs alot of work to complete, i tink it would be a bad buy as it all sounds too 'one off'.
  23. yep stuff is getting lifted here in Mid Devon too.
  24. reliable, robust, less weight, easy to work on, (all this i have with my Echo topper).
