  1. Does everyone post tractor threads, You can post anything you want ( as long as theres a mention of tractors) lol, only kidding.
  2. Nice job, like someone said before, cue the A-Team music, I love getting the welder and grinder out, even if its just to create mayhem.
  3. I'll have some, what about a comp to design it ???
  4. Never heard of putting cheese with it before, but must admit it sounds delish, mind you i have a cheese fetish at the mo.
  5. Are you sure because the book now says and i quote ' the former lower figures applicable to both national operators and restricted licence holders have now been abolished '
  6. Check your funds again, according to this years transport managers handbook, you now need 8.5k for your 1st vehicle, whether it applies to sub 7.5t vehicles i dont know, but if i was you i would just check with local TC office.
  7. Talking about vosa and transport, recieved my new copy of The Transport Managers Handbook 2011 today, after a quick flick thru', i discovered you now need a minimum of £8.5k in a bank account, to be able to put your 1st hgv on road. End of my dreams, me thinks for now.
  8. Awesome vid, wouldn't like to be chased by one of those.
  9. My way of thinking as well. Eat well, look after yourself, dont smoke, drink sensibly, exercise regularly, and all is well. (hopefully).
  10. Bit close to edge tho for my liking, think he only did it because of the dolly on the drag, instead of a standard swan neck bar.
  11. I would say either a Trooper or Jeep Cherokee.
  12. What about the disabled?? or their carers?? This is a bit of a bug bear of mine. I mean the whole of the disability car scheme is a bit of a sham in my mind. I remember years ago if you were registered disabled you could claim and get a little blue three wheeler car, fair enough, no problem. Now tho you can get range rovers and anything else through disability, surley this is not right. If you are disabled surley you are not fully fit to drive such a vehicle, and should therefore not be allowed to. If it is for your carer to drive you about, then you dont need anything bigger than a mini as that is adeqaute enough to get you to the doctors or such like as that is what the system is meant to be for.
  13. Dont know about price, but it looks a decently made gate that mate, especially if its your first attempt. well done.
  14. What about people that run trucks for business, how do you think the fuel rises will effect them. Almost everything in this country is at some stage moved about on the back of hgv's. This is from raw materials to the finished product, be it food, building materials, new cars, old cars etc. Yes back loads are increasing and so they should, but that is not the be all and end all. The haulage industry is pivitol to this country, yes things can be moved about on trains, but how does it get to the train and how does it get from the train to the shop, simple, by road. This is one of the reasons why everything is so dear (because of the distribution costs). I think that if haulage was allowed to run on red, then that would bring the cost of everyday things down. I totally agree with dean about the tax situation on cars, but either scrap it altogether or just have the single tax amount. These are just my thoughts on fuel duty, as having worked in the haulage industry and still do sometimes, i know first hand how badly these rises affect the industry. please dont feel i'm out for an argument as i am not.
  15. Bloody hell !!, that really is top notch, you must be proud of the outcome with that. I know i would be.
  16. IF we were closer together i might of been interested, but you are too far away for me. sorry. But this sounds a fantastic opportunaty for someone.
  17. Same here pal, hope he gets well soon and well done to you for spotting it and getting him to hospital asap.
  18. Sounds like you have a real good set up there, so why do you need a partner and not just an employee ??
  19. (i'm a joiner by trade with links to transportation )Came accross it through google, was playing about one day and wanted information on something and came accross it, never looked back, not a pro or even do any real felling, but have never felt out of place on here, people are so willing to help each other out its unreal, just like having a live encyclopedia. Brilliant.
  20. Hey Rob, this seems a Very good idea for a forum, i'm also a carpenter / joiner whos thinking of trying milling, so thumbs up for the idea and please keep everyone posted. cheers.
  21. I like the look of those gates very much, well done, briiliant idea, but (and this may be a daft question), what type of ironmongry do you use, ie hinges, as there doesnt seem anywhere to fit the large tee hinge or hook and bands normally associated with these type of gates. Look well made tho.
  22. All the best every one, hope this year is better than the last.
  23. Yes, sort out what direction i want to go in. Last couple of years i seam to have lost alsorts of direction and i feel like a big ping pong ball, sort my head out and then knuckle down to serious work. (and have at least 1 long holiday ).
  24. Left school and did my joinery apprenticeship, stuck at it till i qualified then left and went into distribution, drove forklifts etc, got my class 2 lgv, went collage and got my cpc, and worked my way up to assistant manager, left went back into joinery and now fancying tractor driving of some sort, for a while anyway. Need to do my cs30 /31 as well at some point soon. ( my saw work is for my own use / firewood.) Think my ideal job (if there is such a thing ) would be working for a timber haulier, sadly there isnt one near to where i live.
  25. I completely agree with this point. Over the last 2 years during the reccession, i have kept going and a roof over my head by taking anything on even working on minimum wage and getting the 'mick' took out of me. Like you say, there is work there if you really want it, it may not be ideal, but at least its work.
