    about 50/50 between personal use and sales, as you say,tree work is a much better way to make a living,would much rather be climbing than splitting!

    i see your point but for me its good 'rainy day' work,spare hour here or there,cut and split a cube or two. We have two woodburners as primary heating, so have to do it anyway

    have got lorry mounted winch but have feeling which ever way its pulled its gonna be un predictable

    as i said im concerned it will split out/explode/be a general nightmare as soon as i put a back cut in,plus would make really good habitat to bang it out where it forks

    got to fell this next week,think i will probably have to climb it as its in such a state (cracks right down trunk/ganoderma/ionotus etc) that im concerned its just gonna explode if i fell it at base,LOT of weight on that large limb! Thoughts please. will take some better photos when doing it
