  1. Off topic! I used to do a lot of work at the department of applied mathematics & theoretical physics (whatever that means) at Cambridge university, Stephen Hawkins was always about there... He got us a free coffee pass at the canteen, he had a weird sense of humour but a nice fella.
  2. Were you a burglar in a former life Matthew?
  3. I too was listening to the wireless today, there was a lady on who said her and her workmate worked in a nursing home, both of them were showing symptoms but only the lady on the wireless went for the test because the other was laid up in bed... both of them got a positive result. If that's true I'd like to know how it works.
  4. This. When you need to operate the machinary involved it is a semi skilled job, around here £12-£15/hour. At £15/hour I'd do it to fill odd days if it was local.
  5. I'm not having much luck this evening! The only two veg I don't like are runners and beetroot. I did get a bag of toms given to me today... Bonus. Normally (when pubs were normal) I very rarely paid for veg, a couple of old boys from the allotments kept me stocked.
  6. Looking good Gary, I don't like runners can I have something else?
  7. Ta, doesn't sound like I'm missing much by not having a TV.

  11. Go on then I'll bite, what's judge rinder?
  12. I was going to get a new jetter, the Rolls Royce of van sized units but thought about it and stuck with the machine I've had for ten years. those days of fortune favours the brave are behind me. Good luck with the new business.
  13. Nope, been to collect my van and got back to the box an hour or so ago.
  14. Not touched by BBL, but I wasn't daft enough not to take it at the rates offered just incase I did.
  15. Got a brick wall anywhere near Rich?, if you have go and bang ya head against it. It will make more sense, honest.
  16. It's taken a while but it was done at an affordable cost rather than writing it off... yay.
  17. I would expect that to come in at about £2250-£2500 max using a good local mechanic.
  18. Look I hadn't read johns post when I posted, he's said it cost £1750 and a day and a bits labour. Explain how that gets to £4K even if you had to get someone in to do it.
  19. £4K to supply and fit a new engine!?
  20. The phrase sub-(contractor) is often misused on here most are freelance arborists, they agree to work for the main contractor on certain days at certain times and do the job to the spec that the main contractor dictates. A bonafide sub contractor takes control of the job from the main contractor, they get the job and do it to the same spec but have full control of how the job is completed and signed off. It's then handed back over to the main contractor.
  21. We've got one of those Acadamys around here where the kids from the surrounding villages get shipped in by the bus load, you just know those kids aren't going to keep those masks on once they are passed the driver.
  22. Oh, and kids have taken to shooting each other just over the other way. Grange Farm shooting: Kesgrave High School confirms Year 11 pupil involved WWW.EADT.CO.UK Police have cordoned off parts of Grange Farm after a shooting, with Kesgrave High School confirming a pupil on...
  23. Closed a school just over today, that 5 teachers is now 8. Suffolk school to close as FIVE members of staff test positive for Covid WWW.EADT.CO.UK Hundreds of students will miss lessons today as their school is closed for a deep clean after five teachers tested...
