  1. Remind me what towing weight we lost from our license when we sent them away years back, on a 7.5t.
  2. Hang on, Hancock announced that PHE had been pulled out of track n trace weeks back and it was all being outsourced to third party contractors.
  3. Prisons have been locked down for months, they'll spend 23 hours a day behind their doors and be out in a week.
  4. No.
  5. The bit about, "how many arbs are in your area" always makes me smile, It's a bit like buying a new car and then noticing there are loads of them about. How many drainage vans do you see about?, very few I would think?, yet in the village I live in there are three of us to my knowledge.
  6. When I used to freelance on site the rules still stood, half a day Saturday for a full days money, in affect double time. Price work is totally different, if anyone is quoting price work they should be pricing in a better rate for weekends. Or they can join the race to the bottom.
  7. When I worked the sites almost every trade was freelance, Saturday was always bonus day. Start about 8ish and be away by 12:00, weighed n paid.
  8. You've been in the joinery trade all these years and never been on a site Saturday mornings from 08:00-12:00 and got a full days money? T'was standard issue when I did site work.
  9. Possibly because if you compared it with the trades you mention the argument wouldn't stand up. In the 25 years I was on the books for different companies I was always paid 1.5 or double for working weekends.
  10. Glad you've got it gobby, I can only presume there was much swearing involved.
  11. If you need any more of the wet stuff n grey skies I've got loads of it I would be happy to send your way.
  12. Very true although this one wasn't really a drinker, her father on the other hand who was a professional jokey was a raving alcoholic. Those long dark nights need filling somehow.
  13. Used to kick about with one for 7 years, in fact she's the reason I stayed in Suffolk. Just don't let them loose on the red wine, turns the nicest Swedish lass into a feisty little piece of work.
  14. Tw*ts the pair of 'em, I'm not one for advocating people loosing their job, but she needs to collect her cards, I don't really care about Stanley not wearing a covering, but it doesn't set a great example.
  15. One rule for the plebs... Where's this chaps fine?
  16. I can't remember what it feels like having dashing good looks, bit like the fella in the above photo, I presume.
  17. Can't wait for the pictures, oh, and tell your youngest son not to lean on your handy work.
  18. That's some fireplace on an oil rig...
  19. If I was I'd be a team player like. Which way do you want it?
  20. This was always the case when I was employed. It ain't going to change much nowadays. If people want to go out on a weekend for flat rate they are welcome to it. I guess I'm not a team player.
  21. Read as... I'll be putting a beer behind the bar for the boss, wouldn't want people thinking I was a tightwad.
  22. There's always tomorrow, it's a marathon not a sprint.
  23. ... if I was employing lads on proper contracts they'd be on time/third, time/half, or double time for working weekends. I wouldn't charge them out at any more mind... perhaps I would in real life. I did what should have been a six hundred quid job a couple of Saturdays back, the client insisted I couldn't get in there until after lunchtime. That job will be £800 quid sir, see you Saturday afternoon. I'm not writing half my weekend off for no greater reward. Some might want to put business first, I prefer time with people I know and like on the days they get off work.
  24. lots of these chemicals make the rust stain 'bleed', don't use it on natural stone. You'll end up with blood red stains far bigger than what's there now.
  25. Funny if it was correct, what we've got is a virus NOT a plague.
