  1. That depends what ya call flat out, if it's your or my kind of flat out we've probably done three full days or four steady days a week. Those who genuinely are flat out are out 5-6 days/week then in the shed/workshop until 10pm.
  2. It certainly ain't Suffolk, I feel light headed handing over a tenner for a fish n chips supper knowing I'm getting no change.
  3. Have another read of the thread title.
  4. The reason you've never heard or seen anyone using a wackier to level up blocks is because it's totally the wrong thing to do, what should be done is lift out the sunken blocks and top up with sand to get the blocks level again, not whacker the blocks that haven't sunk level with the ones that have.
  5. I don't know if you noticed, he said a few posts back he'd got a two man pressure washing job this Saturday, again, in the same sentence he is doing a roofing job on Saturday as well... No wonder he's knackered from all the work he's got on.
  6. What, the saw or talking about Triggs lunchbox?
  7. I wasn't really out of work, it just dropped right off in the first lockdown. Most of my own work is domestic, lots of people asked me to rearrange my servicing work until 'we' know what's going on. Most of my freelance work is on big retail parks and the like, with them all being closed due to Covid that slowed right down. I got through and ain't used my BBL. Things are on the up again, I'm refurbing a domestic pumping station ATM, and Bluewater shopping centre are getting ready to reopen.
  8. Good saving, I had it at over a grand here but not up at £1500. I'm no sparky and it's along time since I used to strip and rebuild pump motors, but... Iirc, if the motor has brushes it's a universal motor and will be fine on a UK transformer. My first thought was it might not run at full tilt or get hot but I think that is wrong, (see, there doesn't need anyone else involved to have a row😀). Speed isn't frequency related.
  9. Got ya, it would run on the American 120v mains domestic supply, or here through a transformer. Looks a lot of saw. I'm going to be rude, how much was it including import? Not that I want or need one I'm just nosey.
  10. Is it dual voltage or will it need a transformer?
  11. I think I know the nozzle you are talking about, the point speed 5? Which dealer did you get yours from?
  12. @Ratman Ratty, wasn't it the 2.2 engine 'they' recommended the EGR blanking plate with a hole in the middle as not to throw fault codes?
  13. No thanks, I've got popcorn. Thanks all the same.
  14. No I'm not the pressure washing police, it just happens to bring in about a third of my income, and I've been doing it as a sideline for ten years. Now down to the truth, I've met Phil on quite a few occasions he's probably one of the most professional driveway cleanersrestorers in the country. Most of his work is around Bromley in Kent, he does stray into London now and then, he's on a similar rate as me, yet you up in Scotland are charging double what we are getting down here. My machine produces twice as much flow as Phil's machine, he does about 180 m2/day I do about 220m2 in 6 hours. here is Phil's pricing structure. Cleaning Price Guide - Driveway & Patio Cleaning, Bromley Kent DIRTYDRIVE-AWAY.CO.UK Driveway, Patio and Decking Cleaning Price Guide. Prices from just £40.00. Serving Bromley, Beckenham and most of... Tell me how you are drawing £4/meter up there when lads in London are in at £3/m2?
  15. How many meters a day, what's the flow and pressure of your machine?
  16. What do you charge per square meter on pressure washing? What sand are you using?
  17. Funny ain't it, many of us disagree out loud but don't get out of our prams.
  18. And this is where you go wrong, I've not disagreed with your business model. In fact I think it should work if you have a trusted team who you can skim off the top of. I never called you a knob, what's with the aggression?
  19. It looks the right shape for a 20 plate Vauxhall Combo Sportive, only know because a mate got one a few weeks back. Can you find the registered keeper? No idea. I'd guess it will be a crime number, then left between you and your insurance company.
  20. Nothing would surprise me!
  21. I'm glad it wasn't just me.
  22. Can't help, sorry this is what I get by entering the postcode.
  23. I don't know what's different yet, I've sent an email to ask the question. This is City and Guilds now, used to be CITB. I'll ask about upskilling.
  24. Yes I agree with this, my point is why two days. It's always been a 3rd of the day H+S, a 3rd crawling about i chambers replicating a total failure of lighting and loss of comms with the rescue team and a third of the day doing the written test. What is day two going to cover?
  25. My Confinded Space ticket is about to expire so today I've looked at booking the usual one day refresher course that three years ago cost £220 inc VAT. Unfortunately this isn't the case now, its now a two day course at just short of £500 inc VAT. So for the 20-odd years I've been in the industry it's been a one dayer and I'm still alive, now it's two days and not far off £300 more. Robbing bar stewards. Who makes this crap up?
