  1. And this is the kind of shite subject that eventually gets more red tape wrapped around out industry from pencil pushers.... You can't fix stupid simple as that.
  2. Hi all, Wondering if anyone can help with advice or their own experiences of employing someone on the books please? I've been using freelance for a good few years but thinking about changing things around a bit. Bit nervous of going down this route tbh..... This would be the main employee in a 2 man team and use freelance for bigger jobs My concerns are : Holidays, what do you do when holidays conflict? or If im away and worker isnt etc? What happens at xmas? Do they use their holidays for the time off them? What about absolutely shite weather? torrential rain and or full on snow? Any clauses in contract about these? Do people start folk off on a 6 mth contract probation period? Anything to consider when taking on someone with no experience and training them up? Clause about paying back part training funds if leave within x amount of time? cs30-31 and woodchipper be near on 1300 quidish.... I realise by having a contract drawn up other bits and bobs like ppe etc its near on a grand before they've started the first day! 28 days holiday inc bank holidays ok. Provide ppe ok. Sorry its a bit long winded but its whats spinning around my mind at the moment. Thanks
  3. No.... I'd say its the slight dish in the flywheel above where the bolts are.... the blades are mounted on other side, chip gets cleaved and comes through this hole to this side of flywheel before thrown out of chute.... It's what's to be expected of a machine at certain hours, bugger all to.worry about
  4. Why did I think it was 20th September or something like that? Bugger, better tell my lad no towing till then..... In fairness I paid for mine after years of driving without the license.... thought bugger it put it against tax! Never been pulled lol 😆 Wish they'd do something about 7.5t license so I could have a bloody wagon!
  5. Got to love the ability a small machine gives you! Always surprised me what they can do!
  6. Run a ranger and a master tipper.... Rock and a hard place as only need to get itnout to the bigger machines like the botex or loader etc and have to get in places too....
  7. Bloody he'll Pete we've been through this already fella
  8. Seen it before someone used a brass sleeve to stop themselves welding somewhere they didn't want to
  9. How do people get on with there 1.8-9 t diggers? Does anyone run a flail on them or shear? Just been thinking I the 1.8t volvo will be fit for what I want.... I just think the 2.5t machines are quite large.... By the bye.... I've possibly got the chance of chopping my little volvo back in against a kubota kx61-3 or a u27-4. What do people think of these? I've only got 3t train weight and do not want to change motors! So would have to accept the train weight is over! Is the bigger machine going to be a lot better? I'm thinking with my head for a change and considering the long run.... Cheers
  10. Take the rest of that plate off and dog see rabbit better. Be a piece of piss with welder and a nut then. Maybe some more heat if necessary. Easy peasy
  11. Not massively relevant but I run a 60 plate ranger 145hp... Great motor. No issues with it but do consider changing it every now and again..... But when you look at how much you have to put towards a new one I think bugger it. Not worth it I'd be for a ranger or dmax next Good luck with what you go for
  12. Correct, I am guilty of this at times I must admit. I do try more now and have time off for school holidays which Im happy with myself for. Hard to get it right but your correct. Have to find the balance I agree
  13. One other thing is you have to set a good example for your kids too.... I'd rather be remembered as a hard worker that provided for his family than owt else. For me If i dont try hard now I would feel I failed my family.
  14. Bang on there mate (apart from the nicking jobs thing!) Life is as expensive as you want to make it. I don't care for material things like the above personally but we are all different. It's a good thing for folks to put pen to paper and check accounts to see where it is all actually going! Such a reality check if they actually listen and take it in
  15. I'm sorry but you are so very negative. Can't be doing with it personally..... Get on, be successful and bray on ffs. You only get out what you put in. Don't winge about what can't be changed and systems charging tax and blah blah blah..... people do go to work. Live within their means, reign things back in and do save for deposits.... You need to make your glass half full not half empty fella
  16. Best thing he could have done letting him sweat it..... I will steer my kids and help them but don't think wiping their arse is the right answer or helping anyone. Best sense of satisfaction for that couple I bet the feeling of doing it themselves will have done them a world of good
  17. I can't believe my hl75 hedge trimmer... it was messing about or not starting 18-24months ago so abandoned in the garage out of the way...... had 2 trimmers go down recently in last couple of months.... Got the hl75 out, Put fuel in and its been running spot on since lol 😆 back earning brass
  18. Does anyone know the weights of these things? Just curious.... Looking online it's jb equipment or robustrac etc to source from
  19. Aspen bob did a post on doing his ages ago and made greasable at the same time.... have a search and see if you can find it
  20. Anyone running one on a 1.8-9t digger? Seen they do 60mm and 80mm length
  21. Couple of pics the other day before it went crap!
  22. Lol 😆 for a grand I'm massively disappointed. Its gna have to be replaced not fit. Will have to ring wilsons up next week see what they supply
