  14. hey stephen, think we may have crossed wires,,, i wasn't implying salesman tactics, in fact quite the opposite, like you i HATE sales blarb with a passion, i hate being "sold" to, and will walk out of a store that tries to sell to me.. BUT wether we like it or not, first impressions count more than anything else,, i'm not saying you should or should not wear a suit, it depends on the job, in fact i think turning up for a tree job wearing your tree kit is not a bad thing,, would you turn up for a bank managers job in a wetsuit? no, so why turn up for a surf instructors job in a suit? the jan carlzon thing breaks it down into a format that made even sceptic s like me actually understand it.. i guess the point i was making was that it isn't just what you say, it's 50/50 but the first thing the customer sees of you is how you look and what you are wearing,,, an opinion is formed right at that second, what you say after is secondary..
  15. where you based?
  16. "its what comes out your mouth that is important imo" if only that was the case stephen.. the first thing a customer sees is YOU, and what you are wearing...and wether we like it or not it sets the scene in the customers head for the whole deal... suggest looking into "moments of truth" the book by jan carlzon. [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Moments-Truth-Tom-Peters/dp/0060915803]Moments of Truth: Amazon.co.uk: Tom Peters, Jan Carlzon: Books[/ame] this guy turned KLM round in a very short space of time ie from almost bankrupt to profitable just by working on moments of truth etc.. Moment of Truth (MoT) Analysis is just one link into it.. have been involved VERY heavily with this in the past and if you think that appearance doesnt matter then you could be missing out somewhere.... please dont think i'm a door to door salesman.. i've just come from another industry and seen the effects...
  17. this was an hour ago, little fistral,,, the other was from balangang tommer..
  18. you old enough to sweat??

  22. congratulations fella,,,, we're 5 months behind you...:-)
  23. oh and while we're at it... what qualifications do you have at present? just so we know from what high and mighty pedestal you are talking down from?????
  24. of FFS CTS... it's friday night,,, i've just passed a hard exam.. a guy that did his course same time has passed too... how the f+++ am i to know that you are the guy he works for?? i have no idea about the relationship you have but IN MY OPINION (which i am entitled to have) he deserves a pay rise.. I'm entitled to an opinion of my own as i'm a grown adult and this is a free country/ forum... now you can get your back up all you like BUT,, mick has bettered himself, wethere you like it or not he is more qualified than he was this time yesterday,,, this means that you can send him on a job as a second climber or first climber... it means that you can satisfy an HSE requirement having him on a job with another climber, and by that i mean having 2 climbers present..is that doesnt earn the guy a few more bucks in his wage then you're as much a +++ as i've heard... this was a light hearted thread when it started... i was celebrating passing what IS not an easy course,, if it was easy then every f___er would be doing it.. thanks for putting a sour taste in my mouth..........
  25. sorry but fair play to mick,, he's got one eye ffs... no sense of depth... and to run around the tree like he does is no easy game in my opinion.... good luck to him, he deserves a pay rise......:-)
