  1. Good on you litteltree
  2. fair point...
  3. 35k is not a lot of money for that much responsibility.... just my opinion...
  4. :wink:i'd rather not comment, being "older" and new to the game i reckon by the time i'd have made my choice someone younger will have beaten me to it anyway...
  5. not necessary mike.... i think you've totally mis understood my point with that comment. this was a healthy debate,, i'm entitled to an opinion the same as you.. if you want to go down the youtube route and start getting childish i think i'll bow out and go walk the dog...... sean... well said..
  6. sorry but skating and snowboarding are TOTALLY different, they both require natural talent to be amazing at... climbing CAN be learnt, and the longer you do it, the better you can get... i've been snowboarding for 20 years,, i still can't do a 900.....
  7. :thumbup:nice spot...
  8. i dont understand why starting a business would have little backing from the forum.. a VERY wealthy business man told me " it doesn't matter if you don't know what you're doing,,,, just make sure you surround yourself with people that do" now i know that i dont have much tree experience, but i sure as sh+t know how to run a company and market it, etc etc.. i've been in this game for 5 minutes, but i've already got a nice contract about to start and another on the cards.. for the first job i'll be employing a climber and a groundie, as well as providing insurance cover for all, chipper, trailer, transport and if they're real lucky, some darn nice coffee..... please can you tell me what is wrong with that, and more importantly, why the forum would "frown" at it... because if that's true... i'll spend my time elsewhere.......
  9. :thumbup:defenderjack.. tis daft to assume that just because i'm starting late that a. i am going to work for someone else, and b. that i'm walking out of an office for the first time with no outdoor experience...oh and c. it keeps coming up about training companies etc leading me up the primrose path.. NO ONE has led me anywhere,, a few of you on here know my background and where i''ve come from, and those people aren't the ones sat here trying to tell me i'm going to earn crap money slaving for some one else.. I am under no illusion what so ever about how physical and mentally demanding this job is..... i am also under no illusion that it is going to be tough work.. but that doesn't mean i'm not prepared for it or too old for it.. my instructor is 58 years old, i've seen him climb... alot.. and i'd put money he'd run rings around alot of you youngersters (as you like to keep on calling yourselves:001_smile:) now he has been doing it for 40 years,, but there is no reason at all why i cannot be a fit, good climber......for years... now tree ident... that's a whole different story.... please stop making assumptions about us older climbers.... especially if you don't know where we've come from.... we have a history, we've worked for others, ran our own companies, done multi million £ deals and earnt silly money traveling all over the world. we've been on the dole, and we've moved back home for a few months while we sort our finances out... and all of this before you've left school.....

    :lol:in the beer tent..
  11. and my second reply to the first comment would be "come here and say that, and get your clip round the ear.. and to this post "I think that training organisations are selling a myth to older people.Unfortunatly is a myth easily beleived by them." nobody "sold" anything to me..and at 36 i do not consider myself to be "old"
  12. "Climbing the tree is about 5% of the skills needed imo I think common sense makes up more of a percentage than being a good climber does" i agree with this statement,,, I rock climbed from the age of 12 up until 26,, ALOT.. i then quit.. for reasons that are mine.. I've just started climbing trees at the ripe age of 36... I GUARANTEE that if i was climbing trees for a living at 20 then i'd most certainly be dead.. because at that age i was an idiot.... I had no fear would would do anything, jump 95 foot cliffs etc etc.. now that i'm older, ok i'm not as fast, but i have common sense, i have life experience, i'm not an idiot and whilst i'm maybe not as fast as you young 20year olds I know i will always climb safe, methodical and professionally now if you want to try and tell me that i wont ever be a good climber because i'm starting in my 30's then you are making an ill informed judgement based on nothing more than the assumption that as you get older you loose courage as well as speed... maybe we should re visit this topic in 5 years and see where you are and where i am....

  20. i'm assuming you know all the reg spots but banana point picks up a nice little wave. I'd stay out of the water just south of the village, esp the kids, water gets pretty bad there, the village sewage goes pretty much in just north of the auberge.. Essouarah is worth a visit but it's a good 2 hours plus drive... you cant go wrong with the source and anchor really.. oh and mystery's.. keep an eye out for yunas driving an old white ex UN 110, he's a great guy surfs a CI bicuit normally, he'll give good local knowledge on where is working,,,
