  1. Predator told me the 38 is petrol because they could not find a diesel of that power which would fit - what with the 26 inch width limitation. You could mount a bigger diesel longways but you would have to put a 90 degree turn on the output shaft, adding more weight and complexity, or convert the cutter wheel to hydraulic drive (again, compliucated and not that cheap). Like Mr Dempsey said theres probably a lot less hassle, and more reliability in an upgrade.
  2. What a relief.... I can't begin to describe what I thought this thread was going to be about. It wasn't nice.
  3. Talking of kamikazee stilts... Anyone round Sussex way need a Youngman 200 triple ladder - 12 rungs each so quite long, just bloody heavy that's all. Barely used, my guys hate it because of the weight - £55 PM me if interested - Yeah I know... arbtrader
  4. I think I would take my premiums elsewhere. I know they panic about poplars and willows but this doesn't sound right to me.
  5. I understand your statement, agrimog. The issue in Worthing is that there are thousands of a particular kind of person living here who will always side with Authority. The best way to describe them is with a few of their favourite phrases... 'Shouldn't ever have let them in the country' 'Things were so much better during the war' 'I know what I'd do about it' 'Kids today have it far too easy' 'Fill in the Channel Tunnel' 'Ooh thats too much, I've only got my pension you know' 'That week is no good for me, I'll be at my little villa in Nice' 'Look at that hair' 'Why is everyone in such a rush' 'Abolish National Health, make them pay for their treatment' 'Bloody university hippy layabouts' 'Im off the the Residents Association meeting soon' 'You can't park your lorry there you know'! 'The ivy grows over from next door you know' 'Send them back' 'I have reported HIM 100s of times but they don't do anything about it'
  6. Its a command pro 25 - fitted to a predator 450.
  7. Whatever you try, be careful and do not damage the engine. I'm currently waiting for parts for mine - after two weeks all I know is that they are between Italy and the UK and will be here 'soon'. All I needed was a valve guide.. but no its a whole new cylinder head. and £££££
  8. Having read the thread about rubbish working practices.. Worthing is planning on becoming the fly-tipping capital. They recently sent out leaflets to all residents explaining that from now on we have to pay £4 per bag to dump rubble at the amenity tip. There are a few other things too. They are also closing all local tips for two (deifferent for each tip) days a week. My initial thought was they didn't realise the consequences, but NO.... enclosed in the mailshot was a load of info on what to do if you see people fly-tipping. So they will save on overtime for about 12 people, rake in a couple of hundred quid a week from the few who are willing to pay, with the only outlay being a team looking out for fly-tippers and the added cost of tidying up all the mess. Give it six months:thumbdown: Bah!
  9. Our local college (in Sussex) used to run a one day course for domestic users, with no certificate or test given at the end. It still included a couple of hours on the safety aspects.
  10. As above Belarus chainsaw and axe attack leaves one dead - BBC News

    Ms 650

If you know its history, you are the best person to answer that question.
  12. Hmmm - look at seller's other stuff... All seems to be american background or photos taken in forecourts. If that stumpy was for real I suspect it would be a bit more than the BIN price. No good at copying links but its a bandit 2900T with 1000 hours:confused1: BIN £7259 If it's for real go grab a bargain, otherwise fall for a scam.
  13. I think it's the idea that 'less pretty' women have to make up for that shortfall in other ways. Maybe that hedge makes up for its ugliness in other ways??? I like Julia Bradbury
  14. Thats quite a steep slope there. Must have a good handbrake!
  15. There's a simple heirarchy to base your strategy on. Invisible - If they don't know you are there, no problem Very hard to nick - Make it so that when they can see it they are deterred from trying. Visual presence - Be seen to be 'with the kit' attended kit is usually safe. Like someone said above - assume someone is trying to rob you (they probably are, based on the number of reports on here). 1. Make your van/kit invisible - park off road if possible. 2. Be seen to be well protected (locks, wheelclamps visible to would be sneakyshites) 3. Be visible yourselves - frequently pop out to the van, and if you see anyone suspicious just walk towards them/their vehicle looking very interested. All the above in whatever combination is possible and NEVER leave anything unattended without locking it up.
  16. Thats a vehicle to die for. You couldn't overtake much with it but you could certainly undertake. Lie stihl in the back!
  17. Ahhhh- that clears it all up. Cheers Stubby:thumbup:
  18. Many thanks Jon, it was nice to meet you. Very interesting chat and the ramps are just fine. Shane
  19. I am about to commit to a bigger stump grinder so I will need to upgrade my ramps. For my pedestrian grinders I've been using a pair of ladder sections with ally plate along the length but don't want to risk it for a 1 ton + machine. Before I dive into the 'new' marketplace I just wondered if anyone on here (ideally not too far from Sussex) has a pair of ramps spare. Happy to pay the going rate, I'd rather do business with a forum member than risk ebay. They need to be 8ft long - or optionally a bit more with a capacity of at least 750kg each. Cheers folks Shane
  20. Why WE are not investing huge amounts in any particular energy harvesting method?? I fear it will ALWAYS be about money. As long as the government's decision makers have the slightest vested interest in keeping an old supplier going or 'helping' a new one then thats the way it will go. Maybe if WE all got off our arses and pooled our money instead of moaning, WE might get somewhere. Once again our democracy system waters down the decision making by putting it in the hands of .....oh you all know the rest of it.
  21. Latest news is that just prior to the collapse a large yellow tree surgery van was seen parked next to the bridge. Allegedly
  22. We have a load going up off the coast at Worthing in Sussex. People are maoning about them, but none of the moaners are refusing to use electricity. It's OK to have a Chinese funded nuclear plant 'anywhere else' but not near me. The turbines may turn out to be inefficient (or not) it all depends on which political stats you chose to believe. If you want leccy we need to make it somehow. At least the turbines dont leave a radioactive legacy for the next 200 generations to deal with.
  23. If the work schedule allows it - off they go. If the work schedule doesn't allow it - its a matter of WHY . If its really important (open to interpretation) then they must be allowed to go and the work can be re-scheduled or you get someone else in. We should schedule the work to allow for a percentage of absence.
  24. Ceteris paribus - four rear wheels provide more traction than two.
  25. Gotta chuck this into the ring.... I prefer double rear wheels because of ..... the extra traction!
