  1. Looked kool guys! Will you be doing anymore over the summer? I'm t'up north until the end of june but I'd be up for these if you do another.
  2. Arb show 100 metres from my front door, can't complain about that! Was cool to mix with other colleges for the banter and watch them climb. Burger van and lack of bar were major flaws! But overall a good little show, got to have a go with an 88 for the first time which was fun! Steve and Andy, was good to catch up with you both, hope it was worth the drive! Also would like to say a big thank-you to the guys at Gustharts for sorting me out a cracking deal on a full climbing kit, went out and got it all dirty for the first time yesterday
  3. Hi all! Forgive me if there is already a thread on this, I did have a look but could'nt find one. Arb Fair North Wondered if anyone on here is coming to this in Northumberland next month? Noticed arbtalk was on the list of trade stands! I'm not climbing myself but I do arb at the college there and have a few mates that are so I'll be there for the crack! Will
  4. That is pretty crazy! ... You'd think they'd devise a simple tool to hold the log rather then using your hands.
  5. Hi Andy, long no time speak, hope your keeping well! I'm doing alright cheers! Taking a study based approach to getting into the arb world now, in my first year on a forestry and arb diploma course at a college up in Newcastle, love the course, fantastic people ... just bloody chilly compared to back home! Give me a shout if you need an extra pair of hands over the summer ... I'll even do a bit of climbing if your in no rush to get the job done . Though Pete our climbing instructor had a heart attack just last week so not sure what will be happening just yet ........hope it was'nt a creatine over dose ((have heard that hes doing well though in recovering!)) How are things yourself?
  6. Interesting that some people are saying it does nothing for cardio training? I started off taking just whey protein and found it helped me put on mass quicker without a doubt. I row as a sport and when I started taking creatine (I think the loading stage is rubbish I just start taking it as normal) I noticed a huge improvement in stamina and I was performing far better at races, as well as knocking huge amounts of time off time-trial pieces. I do 6 weeks on, 1 week off ... with slightly larger doses the week running up to a race event (I take slightly less then the stated dose normally).
  7. Its a sad world that we live in these days if thats the level people stoop to ...
  8. I'm on a 2 year national diploma course in forestry and arb, started in September last year with about 30 people on the course .... 4 monthes later 6 people have already dropped out and only about 15 of us attend regularly! I decided to go on the course after I bit the bullet and forked out to put myself through my CS30 & 31 tickets, but still did'nt really have enough to be considered by an arborist employer.
  9. Hi. I'm in my first year studying towards a level 3 national diploma in Forestry & Arb at Northumberland College, Ponteland, Newcastle. Looking for part time employment over my days off (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday afternoons). Prior to the start of the course I have just over 3 years working experience as a landscape operative and have done basic ground work for a few members of this forum (Steve Bullman, Andy Collins). I hold a clean driving license as well as my CS30 & CS31 cards. I also have a Level 2 NVQ in Amenity Horticulture & my PA1 & PA6 chemical licenses. Anything considered! Will
  10. Forget to add, I have all my own chainsaw PPE. I've previously worked for Andy Collins & Steve Bullman doing clearing/grounding.
  11. Just wondered if anyone around Ipswich, Suffolk area could offer any weekend work this side of September. I work full time in landscaping mon-fri, just looking for a little bit of extra money to help me pay for college accomodation from September. I hold a full Uk driving license (can't tow) and Cs30 & Cs31 tickets. Anything considered!
  12. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiIaHBpPvVI]YouTube - STIHL MS 261 - Der neue Standard für Profis (Kurzfassung)[/ame] If your as useless as me when it comes to losing bolts when your taking them apart, then I'm sure you'll appreciate how they've now made it so they never actually come out ...Little things please little minds :laugh1:
  13. First I've heard of this, what a sad loss to the 'real' music world Rest In Peace
  14. Very interesting thread Andy! As a newcomer to the trade, in a time when any job is hard to come by, let alone a trainee position in arb, I've given up on looking to get in with a company. Back to college in September to learn the trade properly for me! ... Lets hope theres work to go to when I'm done!
  15. Unlucky mate ...Can you not have a polite word and see about getting some of it back??
  16. Unfortunately Steve sorry . I don't really want to discuss whats happened ...but its serious enough to have made me drive over 200 miles away.
  17. Hi. Due to personal circumstances I have had to leave my home down in Suffolk and I'm now floating around the Harrogate area with no-where to stay at present. I'm seeking any kind of work on offer, so that I can get my feet under the table and start to think about where I'm going to live. I have my CS30 & CS31 tickets, aswell as experience on general machinery like strimmers, mowers, hedgecutters etc. Anything considered! Will
  18. Bugger that mate I'd just take it to any reputable garage! Main dealers are thieves.
  19. Cheers mate! Good luck with the course, I really enjoyed it! If I really can't find work then I might consider doing my climbing ticket & chainsaw from rope & harness and start up with a mate. Don't really want to go down that route though because we'd be just another couple of 'tree cutters' not properly trained arborists which I want to be. If I can get even 3 days a week then I could do some private landscaping work on the other days just to keep me going.
  20. Hi. I've been looking for an opening in the trade for a long while now. Ideally I'd like full time employment, but I'd also be interested if you can guarentee at least 3 days a week. A little about myself. I turn 21 in July and have held a clean driving license from the age of 17. (Please don't stop reading!) Since September 2008 I have been employed by English Landscapes, working in a 2 man team maintaining the shrub/flower beds around Babergh District Council territory, as well as various other aspects of landscaping. Whilst working for this company I have achieved an NVQ Level 2 in Amenity Horticulture and my PA1 & PA6 chemical licenses. In January this year I put myself through a course at BTS in Needham and obtained my Cs30 & Cs31 chainsaw tickets, with the idea that it would hopefully make me more employable. I know from a certain thread that many of you have little faith in todays youngsters, because of previous experiences with the lazy, 'can't be arsed' type. If you believe all youngsters are like this, then please give me a trial day and I'd love to prove you wrong! I can assure you I know how to do a days work and I'm no slacker when it comes to getting stuck in. I've done the odd bit of chainsaw work for my company, aswell as some basic groundwork inc chipper feeding for some members on here. I'm based in Bentley, Suffolk and I'm willing to commute for the right opportunity. If anyone does forrestry work, I'd be interested in this aswell. Thanks for reading, please don't let my age/lack of experience put you off. My eagerness to learn and work hard will make up for it.
  21. If he could do it on every branch then he could put companies out of business! Would'nt need chainsaws or any ropes, but maybe a trampoline to save climbing back up each time! Think were on to something here lads!!
  22. I'd leave it mate. All the tools where I work are stihl (strimmers, chainsaws, blowers, hedgecutters etc) and they all take a little while to get going at the start of the day. Once its started just let it run for a few seconds then very gradually start to just blip the throttle, as it gets going you'll be able to hold the throttle on more and more until it will run without bogging/stalling. Just how 2-stroke engines work, all my old 2stroke motocross bikes were the same. Saying that though of the tools i've used, the chainsaws seem not to suffer from this as much.
  23. Will give my mate Gord a ring
  24. Free bump. Thats a very good price mate!
