  1. does anybody know what this is?
  2. Thanks for that. I'm working with a poor memory too so the rhymes might help!
  3. Thanks for the suggestions really appreciated, cheers
  4. Hi all, I was wandering how everyone learnt tree id. I still struggle a lot. Is there any hints and tips for learning trees and shrubs can't seem to make things stick in my head
  5. Well that ends that then..
  6. Yes for small jobs removing and disposal is a great element to bring to the table. Price accordingly.
  7. That's the dream..
  8. Haha thanks for the replies, I have to reiterate my sharpening is fantastic if I do say so myself..but not without a vice. A stump vice is fine, but that's not always an option when just pruning. The truck mounted ideas look good thanks for the suggestions/links
  9. Ok so after 10 years in the game I'll admit my sharpening skills without a vice are still sub standard, particularly with a smaller saw. Does anyone know of any handy solutions for having some sort of bracket mounted to a truck that a vice could be slid onto to or attached to? I have a ford ranger. Thanks
  10. Ok thanks.
  11. Hi everyone, what are the main footlocking competitions in the UK? What setups are used? Cheers
  12. Pics so small but it looks like castlewellan leylandii
  13. Communist Britain..It's time!
  14. A Woodland TPO protects all trees within the defined area, including natural regeneration - seedlings and saplings ie. trees less than 3.5m in height are not excluded. - From the DOE in NI. Must surely apply to elsewhere in the UK I would imagine. Best get the proper permission first in any case.
  15. Gutted I cant manage this. Anyone know if there are any more running soon?
  16. Is this dead mans fingers? (Xylaria polymorpha). Is the tree dead?
  17. Thieves steal chainsaws worth 20,000 from Barony College Dumfries | Glasgow & West | News
  18. Some of these stories sound a bit dodgy to me. Stripping naked young apprentices and putting grease on their privates? And lots of tying people up? All sounds a bit creepy to be honest..
  19. I am excited for you and I don't even know you! Get travelling..
  20. Hi there, I have got his book 'the body language of trees'. This may have some material your looking for? What course you doing?
  21. Yeah, the U.S way seems pretty good. Im sure they cross two chains over from the trailer underneath the draw bar and onto the truck so if it comes off the hitch chains cradle the draw bar. I could be wrong.
  22. What is the most popular firewood?
  23. What a brilliant read at 4.30 in the morning. Vintage thread. So Python, a year later, what happened in the end?
  24. Can't believe this is an issue. It takes 2 minutes to make the enquiry regarding TPO's and conservation areas, etc. Just have a template ready to go. Even when I was doing cashers at weekends in my teens and early 20's I was doing this. I've rarely heard of the customer organising all the relevant permission and in the rare cases they have done, I asked for a copy. Why would you not do this?
