  1. Your NPTC's are your practical courses.
  2. Yes, a course would make so much more sense after gaining on the job experience. It might also be a lot to take on all at once whilst you're learning the practical side of things.
  3. If you can, get experience with a GOOD reputable company with good POSITIVE staff with experienced climbers. Learn how it's done and how it's run, it will save you so much hassle down the line. Do your RFS Level 2 in Arboriculture and progress from there. You can do this course online. Also learn and memorise tree ident and Latin for as many trees as you possibly can. Nothing worse than not being able to identify a tree in front of a customer. Edinburgh or Dawyck Botanic gardens have a lot of trees tagged with their species.
  4. Hi all, can anyone help with this, I'm doing my level 4 and just need a link for information on preventative measures/treatments for fungi.
  5. So sad to hear this. What happened? His last Fb post was on the 24th.
  6. Hi, does anybody have a link for a video of someone experienced in SRT doing a dismantle or large crown reduction using SRT only. Not from a helmet cam but preferably from a drone or something? Thanks
  7. How did you link the statutes to the scenarios? Did you find them in the actual legislation?
  8. Ah right ok, sorry I should've been clearer..I'm doing the online course so no classrooms for me. It's definitely a disadvantage
  9. Is you're course like mine where there isn't really any teaching. More like they give you the assignments and then you go off and find the answers. I've just been reading books, articles, etc for this course and not found the college to be much help at all.
  10. Yes haha I've found that out. Have you done the statute law part on learning outcome 3? I am goosed on this one.
  11. I'm currently doing it and really struggling with it. Just wandered if anyone else here might've been doing it.
  12. Hi, anyone else doing this course at the moment?
  13. Does anybody know what this is? Found on living main stem of lilac. Client says the tree had looked in poor health in leaf. Cheers
  14. Thanks for that, funnily enough the first thing I did was Google/YouTube search 🙄.
  15. Really just wanted an example of pole rescue techniques especially and some vids of different aerial rescue scenarios. If you can help me out I would appreciate very much.
  16. Hi, does anyone have any good links to aerial rescue videos involving pole rescue as well as canopy rescue please? Thanks

  18. Just saw that QTS are looking for climbers in Scotland. Does anyone have experience working for them as a climber? Does it pay well? Is there much chance of career progression into foreman or management roles? Thanks
