  1. seen quite a few like this and most were decompressor problems but had one where the barrel to crankcase face was bowed allowing air in at that front corner with the same result. Make sure you get all the transfered aluminium off the cylinder or it will trash the new piston. 357xp fragile at best!

  14. Properly would of meant a new loom, so replaced the mid section, soldered and heat shrinked and repaced melted bullet conecters with block conecters sealed with sikaflex.I think the repair will out last Me:lol: the repairs were needed as the alternater main feed wire had sorted against the exhaust manifold causing the mid section of the loom to melt into one BIG WIRE! and everything was on all the time lol.

  20. the dehumidifier was a small domestic one made by EBAC, it is supposed cost the same to run as a fridge/freezer. Over night it made 2 dumpys of wet logs into 2 dumpys of burnable firewood. Must get a battery for my moisture meter and take readings this time.
  21. tried a dehumidifier to help dry logs last night. A couple of vented dumpys with a tarp over them to the ground and the dehumidifier inside the tarp, good result wet logs last night almost dry logs this morning.may make a drying room in a corner of the shed.
  22. is it still there?
  23. lifted the head this evening, gasket has been blowing on number one cylinder, carbon has been steamed off the top of the piston, the 30 year old gasket was past it,s best! bores are spot no wear or damage.Going to drop the crank out tomorrow and check it, it,s a David Brown 1390 engine.Almost got the leyland tractor rewired today a bit of finishing off tomorrow and it,s ready for the road.
  24. Fair point, depends if the crank will regrind if not a new crank is £500 rest of the parts are really cheap.
