  1. here is a David Brown 1412, bought it for the engine but it,s to good to break, so it here to stay.
  2. what sort of tree is this please, my missus wants one.
  3. just uses the pto clutch of the tractor and got a length of yacht furling line fastened to the stop on the pump and there is always 2 of us when winching.But i,m sure an idiot would manage to hurt themselves with this winch.

Bought this old boatyard winch for £50 off ebay, with a bit of work made it fit the 3 point linkage, had a stub of a pto bored and tapped to fit the input shaft of the winch, it has a 1 to 47 reduction so it is very slow, but controlable, done a few trial runs works spot on, so next job is to make all the guards and ground anchor . The money i saved buying this cheap winch bought us another tractor.

  9. Hi i,m still looking for a 4 cylinder david brown engine, must be a good runner, would be interested in a good crankshaft aswell for a david brown and i,ve been on the DBTC site no joy! would consider a full tractor:thumbup: cheers Mark.

  14. wanted to have it hydraulic powered so i could use it on my digger as well, think i,l leave it pto powered and look for a grab to go on the digger. thanks for everyones input.

I,m on converting a pto powered winch to been hydraulic powered, so the winch will reverse, i would like some input on which hydraulic motor to use? the winch will run off the tractor hydraulics, it has a reduction gear of 47/1 and one turn of the cable drum is 1 meter of cable when the drum is full and the winch is 6ton:001_smile:
