  1. Steve, spend a day in the woods with a professional forester doing thinning works and you will see that it is not the rape and slaughter that some people think it is, Steve just rebuilt the slew ring on your old crane, works like a new one now:thumbup:
  2. The crane is all back together, it,s done a full shift today forwarding and worked perfect. I,m well happy.
  3. Sweet. Did you get the drive problems sorted?
  4. Do the wheels just spin when climbing in reverse or is there no drive getting to them? On a positive note reasembled the LV Star crane on our forwarding trailer, repaired pinion shaft on the slew motor and rebuilt the slew ring with new 18mm roller bearings, old ones were worn down to 16mm! So now the old crane works as good as new, Cost was 500quid much cheaper than buying a secondhand crane to replace the LV Star crane.
  5. Got the slew motor shaft repaired, slew ring is and oddball, found a company in Italy but they have non in stock and won't be making any for 10 weeks, cost 1000 pounds! so dismantled the ring and it,s only the rollers that,s worn, so it will be getting rebuilt with new bearing rollers and jobs a good'un the LV Star will live again.
  6. bogie and boxes all back together and ready to go back in the Brunette tomorrow:thumbup:
  7. It,s a good feeling when a bogged machine starts to move, well done:thumbup:
  8. We are chipping onto a burning muckheap, thats the smoke you can see.
  9. A short video of our junkari 10inch chipper, this is the first time we have used it for brash, it was most excellent.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10200937060771866&set=vb.174876242568749&type=2&theater
  10. Does anyone rent out forwarding trailers with crane. In the North East area. Cheers Mark.
  11. We are looking for someone to come and do some forwarding work for us, a couple of weeks work, location is DL15 County Durham, would suit a tractor and forwarding trailer.
  12. Couple of photos of the new reverse gears fitted and the selectors fitted it should be a working machine again in 7 days time:001_smile:
  13. Went to visit my parents today and noticed this ring barking on 5 trees in a row, i used to play in and around these trees when i was a kid, after chatting to a few of the neighbours, find out the trees were shading someone's greenhouse,Luckly they haven't cut quite deep enough and the trees are starting to heal themselves, i,m guessing an electric chainsaw and a extension lead, i,m guessing they been done about a year. trees are on coucil land as well. So Tuesday i will be seeing our local tree officer.Photos are of 4 different trees.
  14. There are some more photos of the forwarder on another thread, Brunette photos, should be back together in a couple of weeks.
  15. The slew ring is really worn, trying to find a new slew ring, the motor and shaft are been repaired by the local machine shop.
  16. Excellent, bet you had a big smile on your face, sunshine, Zetor and a lovely view:001_cool:
  17. Box stripped now, next job, take the International 574 tractor to bits to get the gears we need for the Brunette, anyone need some International parts?
  18. So you bought it? We can have our own owners club and a forum:lol:Check the height if it,s going on a truck that is not a lowloader.
  19. At last got the front bogie out and moved it inside, so now can dig the reverse gears out and replace them,
  20. I do relise that the shaft broke because of the wear in the slew ring.
  21. We have an old LV Star timber crane and today the outputshaft snapped on the slew motor, it's a hydraulic motor with a slipper clutch and the output shaft has snapped just below the drive pinion, the motor has no name or numbers on it! WE can as a last resort have the shaft bored and tapped and a threaded insert made, screw the broken piece back on and weld round the join. I would really like to fit a new shaft or a complete new motor, i'l stick some photos up tomorrow. Anyone else had the same problem and how did you over come it? cheers Mark.
