  2. Moved to a new site a 1 1/2 acre clearfell of Silver Birch on the edge of Hamsterley Forest, the ground is very very soft, should keep me busy till Christmas.
  3. If anyone is selling at 25 quid a cube cut and split can i have 400 cube please.
  4. We have no idea how long a drying cycle will be yet,I would be very very happy at a 7 day cycle as we should get at least 60 cube of wood in the kiln, but i'd still be happy if it takes 14 days.
  5. We are making our own kiln for drying firewood, We are insulating one end of our shed a 30ftx30ftx20ft high area, powered by a 100kw biomass boiler and 5000 litre heat sink tank and a couple of heater boxes with fans like the ones you see hanging in factories to blow warm air, the doors into the kiln are going to be 2 tautliner artic truck curtains mounted on there sliding tracks so we pull them open to load the kiln. When shut they should flap gently to let the moisture out a bit like a giant flap valve. Also we are going to sell the excess heat to a couple of houses next to our yard, to run their central heating and we,ve signed up the RHI scheme so we will get paid to run our boiler.
  6. Good luck, There is a shortage of hardwood in the North East. We now keep all the hardwood we fell for our own firewood production.
  7. In future at least 80% of what we cut, we'll keep for our selves to make firewood.
  8. Well the 044 ran perfect with a 20 inch bar and was a joy to use and put a smile on my face.
  9. Stuck a Meteor piston in it last night and replaced the Kat with a normal exhaust, fired up first pull, adjusted mixture and tickover, taking it with me today doing a small clearfell. We will see how it performs.
  10. I would advise you to see if truckloads of hardwood are available and how much, as there seems to be very little available.
