Shes a big one. -
A fox up a leaning ivy coverd birch tree. Lucky for him it was in norwich city's cemetery so i couldn't fell it. Made me S a Brick not what i expected. Also in another park a cambium saver stuck in a tight fork and the bark had grown partially over it. Asked one of the old guys on the gang who said it was our bosses from 10 years ago.

Well here my half a pennys worth........ Reducing at tree does reduce its sail but as it recovers also increases the trees crown density thus reducing windflow through the crown. Thinning a tree does reduce windflow through the tree but also leave the tree open to lever arm and windthrow at the extremitys. Thier is always potential for epicrmic growth to apper on the main stems if over prunning is carried out and the increasing the trees density. IMO trees don't need us to reduce/thin them really we do it for someone who wants to pay us. When the tree fancy's a new hair do it just sheds a limb or 2. -
Thats also a good get out of jail free card. next time someone pulls me im saying that.

From my experiance in having larger than life loads. Using a hi-viz old climbing rope is good enough for the cops they only care if you crash or its unstable/unsecure.

Good old hiab, sometimes its soooo much easier to take it away and dispose of it later.

I remember this coming up in a 'tool box talk' it was a scaffolder wearing a full harness who fell. Made me cringe again tho. -

Got a young lad to hold a match told him it was a safety match so i wouldn't get close enough to burn his fingers. Stupid boy. Also same lad we sent into jewsons to grab a pot of multi coloured paint.

Well get called out to clear a hanging branch from an Oak tree. Its in a CA and has recently lost another limb last week. So i Give my local council a ring so they know whats going on. WELL!!! I get told by the TO that if its not hanging precariously i will have to wait till they have been and looked! WHAT its at least a quarter of the top of the tree. I said, well i will drive out there today and have a look myself some people try to take trees down after high winds. I was dumbfounded:confused1: so asked an e-mail to say that they take responsibility if it falls on someone from 10am today to 11am tomorrow? No we won't do that its the land owners tree. I replied and he's trying to carry out his duty of care and safety to the public. No, i will go have a look today. Well its gone 3pm and i still haven't heard a peep. Some people.

Used them for years great on branbles, thorn hedges, mashes it down nicely too almost to nout, great bit of kit IMO. Although have ripped the guard of a good few times whilst cutting. Ain't it called a 'power prunner trimmer' PPT ?

whilst scowering the interweb i found this Granberg International a chainsaw mod that makes it a kind of hedge cutter.
