  2. hi yes I hire my chipper to my subbies,,,when theres break down,,,or for what ever reason,,,on the condition that if ought breaks they fix it,,,,same goes for if its stolen,,,,and at mates rates,,,,,and vica versa,,,,not sure i`d let it ought to strangers,,,,

  6. mate be very careful with your new stuff,when you get it,,,,they know the insurance pays out in about six wks and they may pay you another visit,,,,they did with me,,,,I just split my gear up now,,,,mrs dont like it much,,,,but needs must,,,,good luck,,,,
  7. no new one on me,,,but have been pulled lately for em dipping my tank for red,,glad wasnt loaded up with logs,,as with my gravely chipper too,,I would have had to ditch the lads,,,,,

  9. mate the last three threads are dead on,,,I had one bloke screw me because i said I was dropping a ton off in my pick up,,,,he weighed one in his kitchen scales estimated there was thirteen in his barrow.he mutiplied it and said he only was giving me £35,,instead of my £50 asking price(was a while ago),,,when I said he can give me my logs back he got arse-y,,,so i let it go and learnt my lesson,,,,now its by the load,,,pick-up,,or transit tipper ,,,,and net bags,,,,,no complaints since,,,,plus it was a good load,,cheeky,b,,,,,d,,,,,

  15. depends on the processor ed,,,most have only a demand of 20hp,,,,from pto obviously,,,
  16. as long as the two man team works,,,then fair price....depends on your work ethics....I e,,,I work twice as hard as my workers left on there own,,,,,but i get twice the money,,hey ho,,,
  17. tend to wack my prices up by £5 a yr,,,as fuel costs increase etc,,,,used to be £0.85 a litre now £1.13 a litre,,,,love to wack the cost of back breaking logs by that much,,,
  18. been thinking of renting another barn next to me for firewood storage,,but the figures dont add up, £2500 pa for barn,,£200 electric,£200 insurance for harvestor,£500 for net sacks, £150,chains maintenance, £500 diesel(for tractor)£470 accountant,as log business wood put my arb into vat bracket,,,,basicaly not far off £5000 running costs,,,,against average arb waste 50 ton give or take,,,,x £60 =£3000...that doesnt even include delivery of logs??? maybe I will just keep doing the odd load too tidy up the end of a days arb work,,,,,trouble I have the same as everyone else is tough to wack price up of load,,as others round here sell at crazy prices,,,,,,tough one.

  20. good point,,back up is inportant,,and if it saves my back,,anything is better that current dilema,,,,,like to hear back from any palax users,,,,,,,(doesnt sound good that?lol)
  21. agreed sawdust,,been watching for ages,,,and as its quite a moral,,decision,,as always cracked it out with chainsaw and axe,,want to get it right,,,,,sawblade seems to create less waste,,,palax seems cheaper than pilkkie,,,but performance is inportant,,along with quality,,,,thanks guys,,,
  22. hi wanting to buy processor,,but am confused with various models,,,Palax?pilkkie?jappa?,,,,then theres sawblade or chainsaw blade,,,,,obviously it depends on percentage of arb or forestry,,generating wood,,,Im,,,a mix 50% of both,,,,,,but happy to buy in,,,,,,any feedback gratefull,,,,,,,
