  1. Our tea and supper at harvest time goes through the books i believe.
  2. Hawthorn - fantastic firewood, we get a lot of it for firewood through the hedgerow coppicing side of the business. Lovel stuff but yeah a bastard to handle
  3. yeah i sell them at £3.50 a net or 3 for £10. always chuck a few nets on a load as it leaves the yard. selling a few nets with each load covers fuel etc for that load and no work involved at all
  4. I've got couple hundred of steves kindling nets in the shed, they are the mutts nuts and i easily shift them
  5. Jon, stick a link up to the bike ou like, all these different bikes are confusing me!! ben
  6. Got the homemade burgers sizzling away on the pan, cold beer in the fridge and football is son to be on.....cant bloody wait
  7. Thank you very much YOur Lab is spitting image of my old girls dog! I'd like to use Ben Dog as a stud and keep his line going but got no idea how to go about it?!
  8. Mine will pick up on shoot days, and will get in brambles etc no worries where no man would dare venture to pick birds up. Good pest control in our grainstores as well. So yeah, suppose he works with me
  9. My best mate is my Spinger, Ben Dog is his name (I didnt name him, I rescued him!) and the girl friend has an ancient old Lab, Lucky dog! Ben dog comes to work most days, loves the farm. He is happy sitting in tractor or sprayer all day with me. When we're in the woods winter time he'll be with us all day, running around catching Morhens. And when up the woodyard he'll chase rabbits and rats out of the wood pile. Will always have him tied up though when saws and machinery is running

  11. my thoughts exactly Steve, gonna swing in a load of local pubs tomorrow on my travels
  12. I have started running a few loads of the Poplar out, I was going to mix it in with my lovely seasoned hardwood next winter but am now selling whole loads of pop bit cheaper then a load of hardwood. The pub next to the farm gets through **** loads of wood and he is happy to take some off of me :)
  13. HA HA HA I too have seen it before but thought i'd share it with others that maybe hadnt!
  14. FIREWOOD - LOGS - APROX 120 + TONS MIXED CORDWOOD | eBay UK
  15. I'd argue that the best invested a business can make is in its staff, certainly the way i feel is I havent got the newest biggest kit but i have the best bloke helping me
  16. I have my brother work for me on odd days and i pay him £100, regardless of what we are doing. And thats not just cause he is my bro either. I cant see how anyone with any sort of overheads (mortgage, car bills) or responsibilities (children, mortgage) can work for £60 a day, working with timber in any regards is bloody hard work and i strongly believe a lad with experience and qualifications is easily worth £90-£100 a day. I'd stick £100 on a job if I needed a good chap on £100 a day with me.
  17. I spent 3 days last week, ringing all the pop up and splitting it. Now all in a herras fence cage and drying lovely, still stinks though!!
