  1. Sound. Keep me posted. If I/we 'kids' can we all will. Have van ect
  2. Love the crocodiles Got a vid some place of a cut I messed right up on that we coined the croc cut, seeing is beliving Hope the warning signs have gone in not to fed the animals..
  3. Hi Paul, I have been asked this week if I am interested in doing the nptc cert for tree pruning (41) I think?, by a co I wrk for, as they are going to go for your acreditation. Said co is under the impresion that they should have this cert for at least one of their employes to pass the AA inspection. The resson I & other subi's are asked is to minimise the cost. I belive that education & fwd thinking are doing good things for our industury but still have resavations about the many bodys that impose regulations apon us, as seems the case in this point only to futher profit for each other!? Would an inspection with the min HSE regs & nptc's not be enough for acreditation? This may open up doors to even smaller co's going for the AA stamp. As I have read in past posts the £ goes up for the larger co's & I asume the inspection intencaty too 'as would be expected' so I can't see the big squeeze bing put on small co's a benafit to the tree industury. Am I off the mark? Hope your curry turned out well the oinion ment to char a little more than expected to let out all those sugars;) Have good weekend & ta if you post befor monday! Get the rice on....
  4. Fantastic. Yet another inative product by someone who knows the frustations of tree wrk:001_smile:
  5. Stuning photos. A friend moored up not to far from their & keeps telling me of the place & it's magic. Will HAVE to make time tis yr to go visit!
  6. One of the nptc 3/5 yr regs on tickets I feel is worth while is the arial rescue! This is something that is seldom practiced 'although it should be' & prob one of the more important regs that should be imposed if our profesion is to be regulated. I was last told that the last person that the instructor we had to take us through on up dates had to rescue was a dead man! & this illestrated how un commen the need for rescue is 'I hope'! I cut my wrist late last year in an 18m platform bucket which made me realise the ease that such things can happen! I'm sure I would not have done so off a rope due to familiuralaty of suroundings ect. Point being I feel the adrenalin takes over in which ever way & then the calm which surounds presavation of self & those around you. A cert in first aid is always a good thing what ever you happen to be doing!
  7. Sweadish logs? The way fwd for the summer season
  8. I was mainly refering to the paper wrk side of things 'risk assesments ect' so I belive a spot check to the office & then a call to a cliant out of the bag & maybe a visit to said site if ok would be the way fwd? I am sure the cliant base of most co's would be acomadading to such checkl ups? exuseue my spelling:blushing:
  9. 3 years of self employment to him?! why the change around? It can't have taken him that long to realise your potentual as a climber could it? IMO he should provid you with the BASIC climbing equiptment to perform your job! & I'm sure that is the veiw of the hse ect!
  10. As with the isa for example, the acreditation of individuals makes alot of sence to me 'subi arb talking by the way' to keep a contiuaty of wrk standards at a high level. As pointed out in a post befor by someone 'ta' the AA acreditaion is as good as seen befor staff turn around, hence the re evaluation of said co's. a few yrs later. I understand the lack of resorses for random spot checks on companys & think we all have a responcibilaty to keep an eye out for crap wrk & unsatisfied clients. I do belive the AA should do some spot checks as in a no notice drop in to co's to at the very least make sure the risk assesments ect are all in check;) In up most of its a job you or I couldn't do better!
  11. I belive it is to do with the seed pods & the nasty way they atatch themselfs to your lungs with tiny barbs. I for one avoid cutting them when the pods are at that point when they explode into nasty itchy clouds of yuk when you throw them at each other!! I have heard of people wearing dust masks when pruning them is nessasery at that time in their cycle. This is all just part of the myth thing though I have to say, I havn't looked that far into it. I do like to cause panic through unfounded rummor though:laugh1:
  12. Someone told me that the smoke from it is not that great for you!? I have found it to burn just fine though with no ill effects...yet:crazy:
  13. Wise words & hope we all take action together as well as indiviualy to futher better our profesion.
  14. moved to water exuded from my eyes!..LOOK
  15. Depends on the situation. I find the club look tends to be about the hip thing! My nuts tend towawrd the....set em up, hold em up!
  16. Hoody tree crewz doin the par cor tree ting! Magic arb ard cor;) I like the hood on my mountain equipment soft shell as well as the outher features it offers for its £. IMO the clothes you buy are well worth the £ spent on them if you are exposed to the weather as much as most of us are!!
  17. Blow torch! That smell of molten cord os always a proper reasurance in a dayz wrk..lol.
  18. Just got hold of the hammer & found the kids piggy bank:001_tongue: A whole £5.99:laugh1:
  19. Hi Paul, Please keep the info coming in on the post the points made are usefull ammo next time I get the 'why are we doing this?' I am lead to belive that the German gov have or did have some envolvment in the regulation of arb wrk some yrs ago but not sure if they still do. What in your opinion is the reason for lack the UK gov to get involved in a roll like Germany? From people I have spoken to who have worked over their yrs ago & presantly I am told the standard of wrk is very high & they don't seem to have many probs with cowboy loppers! I belive most who use this site are all on the same side & want to see a way fwd in our struggle to care for trees & increace our knollage of them along with passing it on to our clients. Thanks Paul
  20. A proper amazing peace of wrk. Nion live's in all aspects..
  21. To quote Rents from Trainspoting, 'Mite as well have stuck it up my ass for the good it is!'
  22. I think one would find that the use of 'was to stand at the front gate' should be replaced by you & I where too:sneaky2: Carry on:001_rolleyes:
