Start on small stuff I guess, fruit trees maybe. That mite help you trust your equipment a bit more. It's all about pushing your boundary's. The next time you mite find it better. Alternatively, throw yourself in at the deep end & go find yourself a big tree You dont like the look of & climb it. Best of luck on your adventures in the world of arb:thumbup1: We all have our doubts I think, it's just a question of that push imo.

What dose that thing think its doing? It can run but it can't hide! We will find it one day... Yea I would climb it. Real nice tree.

1st time knocking on the chain brake on 020 & missing, contacting slowing chain with the bit of my hand that holds my thumb on:blushing: 2nd time in a mewp one handed use (again) cutting a branch that was to much for me to cut & chuck ended up planting pushing chain into my right wrist as I had not (with all my other errors) taken into account the restriction of movement of arms due to the mewp bucket. Both occasions I got myself down & was then driven to hospital. 1st aid under instruction from me as both times the other people around hadn't had full training in 1st aid & panicked somewhat at the sight of blood I think. 4 stitches & 3 butterfly on the 1st hit. 15 I think on the 2nd hit, some internal & the rest external, a little work on the slab to clean out stuff & tendon clean up. I carry a small yellow 1st aid kit (prob out of date ect) thanks for reminding me:thumbup1:

Arboringist? Get many of us on the subject of trees to the ear that don't want to hear & I'm sure that mite be the reply:sneaky2:

If its to create a 'safer' tree away from harms way then imo fracture beyond the target area & let it be for as long as possible to allow colonization of the wounds you have made. If that is not possible & structural retrenchment is the case then enter a management plan over a period of time suited to the trees location, condition of the wounds ect.

This face was in the tree looking back at my son as I cut it. He laughed & pointed it out to me. Just went to show me that getting through the job without taking the time to look sometimes is a bad practice as the things that can be missed are what can make a pap day alot better. Great thread just found it...better late than never eh

The one I have used has the same holes in the same positions but at closer inspection they are small plug points for an electrical male input for a diagnostic type thingy by the looks of it. I will double check next week when I am working with that co again. I may be wrong:blushing: Not the first time

Dose he use subi workers? Just to fill a gap if needed before someone eligible for the position comes his way. -
Just want to know if I am alone in my thoughts on the 201t. I have not bought one as yet but have had the chance to use one a few times & I have to say although I like some of the new features on it I have been left a little un-impressed as to its power compared to the 200t. I cant work out if this is old sch syndrome (remember the change over from the old ali 020 p to w ratio) or if it has something to do with emissions box ticked & a not being able to jam a tuning screw dr in to tweak. As their is no way to tune this saw in the conventional way, dose anybody know if the plug in diagnostic thingy will be available for general purchase too to bung in with an ever expanding tool kit:sneaky2:

I think they are a poly co product (warrior) written on them. I pay £1:32 at the mo for a pair & they can last for a day to a week or more depending on what sort of climbs I have on.

Thanks Robarb, for your break down on your conclusion & books that you find useful. Best of luck in your study's. I have much the same problem as evergreen in my ability to retain things I read. Good ref books are invaluable. Look fwd to your eventual data base of leafs, will that also include winter buds? A fine job of ident with the poor pic quality & lack of other info. These were all I had to go by too & lack of good books & a knowledge of how to use them properly yet.

Had a look in Mr Mitchell book at their office & that had me asking more questions too...Argh..It is the hairs & the scaly buds that me. I have no experience in tree ident & am on a learning curve. Thanks for the input from you all, still unsure now..

Cheers Robarb, do the buds or the hairs give it away to you? I cant find many pic's in my limited library. Have you got any suggestions as to good ident books you have?

I didn't see the whole tree, but this was about in the office & got some of us thinking..Any ideas? White or green ash? Any clues would be much appreciated. No reason for the ident apart from curiosity & confusion Sorry about picture quality, I took them on my phone..
