  1. Seen a pigeon head first in the same situation. As it rotted, its neck was stretched by its hanging body weight
  2. Pretty sure its how it has been for a while. BE to tow with 3.5t up to 3.5t trailer, C1E to tow with anything over 3.5t It also states these new rules only apply to new drivers, it'll be another version of pre 97/grandads rights; "Your entitlement to tow trailers will stay as it was when you passed your driving test." It seems if I've read it right, existing drivers have nothing to worry about, just the people who haven't passed ANY tests yet
  3. Second hand is fine yeah. I'm after both to do some drop tests with Nomadic Climbers. We'll be testing the performance of both the LJ and SJ with the rope wrench, focusing on the event of wrench and tether failures, and falls involving differing amounts of slack - to include different fall factors
  4. Hi all, Does anyone have either a Lockjack or Spiderjack they're looking to get rid of? Cheers
  5. I know a firm that will recycle, and collect them in bulk. pm me andy if you want their details
  6. I'm pretty sure it's not been tested or rated for srt, that has nothing to do with it's function or purpose. It will hold you on a single line in the event of wrench failure but that doesn't mean you should rely on it. I've done a few baby drop test style things with the Lj and rw and I'm happy enough with the results that I have made the descision to use this setup everyday. When I have a bit of spare cash/gear, I'm gonna do proper drop tests to see how it holds up. Hope Ian doesn't mind the photo:thumbup: Edit; for the record, I competed on the RW/LJ at the Cutters and Climbers, again only a small comp, but the organisers were happy enough to let me use it
  7. Nothing particularly useful though Ian Flatters likes it with his Lockjack, makes it a touch smoother response on smaller diameter rope. Basically it enables a hitch to function Ddrt style, on a single rope, which would be impossible with only a friction hitch
  8. It enables you to work position on a single line
  9. I once knew Mr and Mrs Dick and Cherry Topping
  10. I play it to people....it's funny. Classic
  11. I don't think my pension will stretch to a unicender!
  12. I'm a keeping it simple person, normally don't have any more than a pantin. I never use LOTS or a hand ascender with the LJ combo. Was it your uni I had at the arb show? I like it, but with all the fall arrest faff, didn't really get a proper play on it. I am toying with the idea of getting one though, did you get yours from Sherrill? I've heard the import tax can vary quite a bit
  13. Reckon it would be smooth with a uni though Paul
  14. I don't think I'll use it a lot, just nice to have when it's needed. Certain trees I miss having a microfrog but refuse to use it because of the changeovers:biggrin: I carry a little harness bag with slings and revolvers for re directs so would pack up nicely in there when not in use. It doesn't take too long to put on the line, as long as you don't pull it out with the footloop wrapped up around everything!
  15. I thought I'd seen something similar. I tried going to the bridge but it seemed to pull down too much and impede the movement of the lj/rw, thats why I've got it on the side ring
  16. Me? It looks smart but tbh all my work is SRT now, I only use Ddrt for reccing occasionally. Imo it's great to advance technology but they're going in the wrong direction (Take cover!)
  17. This is something I've been playing with the last few weeks. The cord between the croll and bridge ring is a bungee cord. It lifts the croll when you take the weight off, which makes for a step by step ascent. With a bit of practice you can ascend hands free on either Ddrt or SRT, SRT needing LOTS. It took a while to adjust the length of the cord but I reckon it's about spot on for me now. I usually take heaving great strides with the pantin but this system is all about baby steps, and getting in the rhythm. If you flick your left foot a little as you lift it, you also gain a bit extra distance from the recoil of the bungee. I'll tidy up the long ends on the bungee, just gave myself plenty to play with when working out the length. The strop ring on the sling as a footloop was shown to me by James Tilling, easy, cheap and locks tight to your foot Apologies for the poor pictures, I was watching the battery die on my phone, I'll see if i can get some better ones tomorrow.
  18. Gadget envy! What do you think of it?
  19. I wonder what surveyor will make of that......
  20. It does seem to make the lj camming action much more severe so may make a difference.
  21. If be up for it! Maybe try Albere's pipe sleeve thing, on a long tether? I've got some 3/4" water pipe, real stiff but smooth finish, I reckon it could be good
  22. Never got on well with that setup myself, I've tried it when retrieving the same as you did. I've always found it creates far too much friction. Were you using a cambium saver with it?
  23. Where did you get the shackle on the bottom of it?
