  1. Always. I once changed the blades on someones bandit. I asked them for their torque wrench and setting, which they provided. Didn't tell me the wrench didn't work though! Sheared bolt a go-go! Keep mine checked and calibrated. If something has a torque rating, why ignore it?
  2. Fair enough. Looks like a good job well done.
  3. Haha mate, what did I tell you all those months ago?!
  4. Hi all, I'm posting this on behalf of a friend. They are in need of a freelance groundsman with minimum qual of CS38 with work available at 1-3 days pw, dates up to December and into the new year for the right person. If this is you, either send me a PM, or call me on 07789 950455 Cheers
  5. You ended up going for the clear cut then Ian?
  6. Yeah, you've got it, it's a sequoia. Thanks to those in the know for the info about stitching. As I said earlier it would've probably held on the end stitches but for me it's not worth the risk. New bridge fitted this morning ready to go
  7. I don't know if I should say at this point. Would it be regarded as defamatory to a large manufacturer, or worth saying to potentially help someone with the same kind?
  8. I doubt it has been contaminated by anything, certainly not to my knowledge. The original main loose stitch was in the middle of the bridge where my swivel spends most of its time. Just been checking out another bridge I retired after three years, having used it in the same configuration. It's a covered one, so no signs of wear in the centre, but who knows what's going on inside? Don't recall the failed flipline, I've seen a few dodgy ones though. Kinks in the wire are a good failure point
  9. So it probably would've held my weight but had I not pulled the loose bit apart I may never have known until the one of the ends failed.... Check your gear!
  10. This is it having done nothing more than pulling a loose stitch. Its ended up pulling out all the stiches both sides, with the bridge only being held together by the two end stitches.
  11. Evening all, just a quick heads up. How many of you go through your kit throughly every day? Or for many is it a case of "it was alright yesterday so nothing's changed".... I check my gear fairly well, but today shook me up a bit. Having completed most of the day's work I came down for a cuppa mid afternoon. I kept my harness on ready to get back up. Whilst enjoying the brew and fiddling with the bridge on my harness, the stitching pretty much disintegrated in my hand. I know it was fine yesterday, and was fine this morning, as I checked it but had I not had that brew, or taken it off, things could have been bad. Another worrying thing is that the bridge is only six ish months old and hasn't taken anything it shouldn't have done. Not trying to scaremonger, just stay safe out there lads:thumbup1:
  12. Safe Eyes Goggles | Clark Forest : Eye Protection These are the ones I use mate, I knew someone would have them. No fogging, no sponge to soak up tree gunk or sweat. The mesh is much finer than a visor so really keep your eyes clean and can take a bashing too. My last pair survived nearly two years before retirement. You can mount them direct to a petzl helmet using the torch holder bits too, mine are always up there ready to pull down
  13. Thats far worse than it sounded last night mate! Hope you heal quick:biggrin:
  14. Blimey, didn't take you long on that one! Cheers rob :-)
  15. Found these beauties on my travels at the weekend, had a flick through the fungi app but not managed an id yet. Gonna get the books out next weekend unless anyone knows it? Beautiful opaque flesh, bluey/ aquamarine colour. I'm starting to get into this fung hunting!
  16. Gutted i missed this one lads, looks like you had a good time. Love the upside down pic of Andy. Be having a rec up here before the year is out I'm sure:thumbup1:
  17. T shirts or rugby shirts in neutral colours. If it rains I try to remove clothes rather than add them, skin dries quicker than cotton
  18. I'll bring my big shot of ones needed. Def a cool place to go, anyone on the fence should go for it, you won't regret it!
  19. I'll see what I can do mate, haven't seen you and Andy for a while, be good to catch up:)
  20. :thumbup1:Cheers buddy, I'll let you know Friday what the crack is
  21. Hopefully somewhere between 530 - 630 depending on when I leave site. Can you pm me your number and I'll give you a call to let you know when I do. Cheers
  22. That would be brilliant, and can return no problem. I'm coming past you (sort of) Friday eve if I could pick it up then mate? Cheers:thumbup:
