1. :lol:Any ideas on what it is from the solitary out of focus photo? I've got the app, but maybe I'm not using it right....
2. Or this 'un perhaps? Whatever it is:blushing: This is what's fruiting on the remainder of the log in the woods
3. They're about 3/4", what size would be more suitable?
4. Yeah, maybe its to add more impact to the images:lol: Still got my pics in the pipeline, might do some kind of chronological thing. I need to catch up with the fancy apps though
5. Some nice ones there mate Some nice ones there mate
6. Perhaps, I've seen similar things inside ring shake. Could it be mycelial felts?
7. I've got this piece of elm in the shed. It tore out of the tree two and a half years ago and I milled it around 6-7 weeks ago. I stacked it the same as the rest of my timber and it's in the same building, but it's the only piece affected by this white gooey fungus. It hasn't even appeared on another log from the same piece of the same tree that was milled and stacked at the same time:confused1: The tree it came from fruits lots of Polyporus squamosus and whats left in the wood of the limb it came off is now fruiting an as yet (presumably saprophytic) unidentified bracket. Should I be bleaching my timber? I've read about some diluted sprays, and some marketed timber sprays. Could it spread to the rest of my timber?
8. Ah yeah I've met him a couple of times. Cheers, keep the pictures coming:thumbup:
9. Nice pictures! Who's the dude next to the stump? I'm sure I recognise him....
10. Looks like a cross between a distel and a michocan. I've seen it before
11. The shortest you can. I make up my hitch cord with fishermans. Tie one knot then tie the knot then tie the second knot a little short, it'll be hard to get in on the krab but once its there it'll be sweet. Works well even in the wet:thumbup: Yeah that's right. Its French I believe. I've heard some people call my knot a helical but it ain't, and some call it a helicopter hitch
12. That's a valdotain, not a VT so not the one in the knot guide. The difference is mine is only wraps, no braids.
13. Valdotain will self tend and grab every time. Four wraps. Five if you're fifteen stone plus:thumbup:
14. Blimey! Thanks for posting! Shame we can't splice all these gear failure threads together
15. The uni action is slightly different, it opens under load, whereas the cantilever of the zig zag could potentially trap things. That said most climbing gear can trap. My swivel has pulled holes in lots of my shirts and on one horrific occasion it had hold of my nipple!
16. I thought exactly the same after my last post!
17. I do mate, I think you have seen it when we've reccy'd together, both DdRT and SRT with the RW. For fine adjustment, pull the rope out the top, much smoother than toggling imo. Or not given it enough time to get used to it
18.
Balls! I meant to show you the TCIA Srt best practice guide. Got it through earlier this week

19. 37mins, first time I've seen anyone climb with a crossbow attached to their foot! Hadn't noticed that before!
20.
Nice, did I get the stuff with the tripod right? I really hope I wasn't pausing the drops and filming us setting up. You'll probably have footage of my mincy mud running too!
