  1. One of my other pride and joys if not working, climbing or down plymouth seeing the misses. Been drumming 10 years+ Not a great pic but you get the picture
  2. Don't no of any local arb shops around my area Buy all my kit online or from shows.
  3. I've got an Marlow Aeris climbing which i stupidly managed to cut the eye end off I then decided it would just be easier to buy a new rope instead of getting a new spliced eye! However after playing around with two climbing lines i now want a new splice put in so i can use two lines. So.. anyone one know of any place or any one they know and trust will do a good job, i can send my rope too to get it done? Or anyone going to the APF and wouldn't doing it there? I'll working on the Loler UK stand so i'll be there from start to finish. Cheers, Mike
  4. Wow. Thanks for all the replys guys. I'm really into my climbing and do it whenever i can at work and every weekend without fail. I use a 37m, 11mm Yale Blaze with a 9mm Marlow friction cord (VT) w/ the Hitchclimber brass. Which i use on my Centre D and a 5m, 13mm Yale XTC 5m strop with a 8mm Marlow double braid (distel) w/ micro pulley and snap hook on the other end, which i use on my side D's I did have the 11mm Marlow Aeris line but stupidly got it snagged on the chainsaw dangling below and pulled . Lovely Rope! Still got it about 30m left but no Eye . so its just sitting in my kit baqg at the mo as i haven't decided what to do with it Also gonna swope my XTC strop with a wirecore one just to be a lil bit safer. I'm a huge fan of toys and gadgets but im also a fan of keeping things to a minimum and simple lol. So im trying to get the best of both worlds
  5. I'm just interested to know what the rest of you climb with? At college i was taught to climb with two climbing lines. I.e. one main one and another shorter line (5m) both coming off my centre D on my harness and only using the side D's with a strop while on pole. But now i find myself climbing on one main climbing line coming off my centre D and a 5m strop with either end connect on side D's on all my climbs. Most of the people i work with also climb like this. Anyone use two climbing lines? Mike
  6. I just use my running coat. Hi-Vis, very light weight, scrunches up into it own little bag (i tie mine onto a spare biner on my harness) and waterproof! Well sorta, but i don't really mind getting a bit wet!

  8. I change in the car and drive home naked with the windows down blasting out cheesy music

  13. Kick it and run Nah, in all honesty i ain't got a clue! Came across one on the ground yesterday, so stayed well clear of it!!
  14. Thanks a lot guys The sky is my limit. Hopefully be going out to canada for a while, once i've got a few years experience. My uncle runs his own business out there and hates climbing lol Chin up mate, one day is better than nothing and You'll probably end up getting more work out of it. Cloud 9 is waiting for you
  15. I'm so stoked at the moment Two weeks ago i was unemployed and looking for anything to get the money rollin in. But now i'm self-employed, busy working with two surgeons regularly, on the books with a company for sub-contacting and racking in the money! I've done two weeks so far, mainly groundwork but also some climbing on the 'little' jobs so far. I'm absolutely loving it and am chuffed to bits i'm finally in this industry which i've worked so hard for. I'm learning everyday and am getting along with everyone im working with and am ever so greatful to them for giving me this oppertunity to prove myself. I'm loving it!!!! So yeah to the other people looking for work. DON'T GIVE UP!! See you all at Jonsie's show! I'm helping a mate with a stall Ah life is good Mike
  16. Personnally i like the idea of Hi-Vis and not just the colour I do abit of climbing and groundwork with different surgeons and local companies. Which two weeks ago i was unemployed. So big thumbs up to me  Anyway.... I like the thought of when i am up in the tree. The groundmen can see where i am in the tree and can do there jobs more easily without them worrying that something gonna drop. I do have a look around and shout 'dropping' before something falls. Which bring me to Hi-Vis on the ground. Sometimes i just can't see the groundsmen easily through dense trees and Hi-vis helps. I hate the thought of hurting someone and never want to find out what it feels like. So if Hi-Vis helps me see someone more easily and vis versa. It may just help all of us keep extra safe!
  17. This is good to know! I've been working my ass off lately and been saving a few pennies to buy my climbing kit
  18. Really sorry mate. I'm know gonna have to pull out, which i'm p*ssed about. Basically it's the traveling and times that i've not thought through properly. I would of had to leave the house at 4am to get there, which isn't a major, major problem. Cos i would of just gone to bed earlier. The Biggy is that depending what time the day finishes i'm gonna be completely nackered and not get enough sleep. Which is what my family are also concerned about, me driving tired and causing an accident or worse. I already do a bit of work with someone else when its available who is about an hours drive away from me. So if i was a little closer, trust me i would of ripped your arm off for this oppertunity and unfortunatly i can't relocate at this moment in time. I'm really gutted about it and should of thought it through more. I just jumped the gun when i saw 'trainee climber' as this is what i want to do. My bodies more suited to it than groundwork. But i can and do groundwork. Anyway, best of luck finding the right man and to the rest of you newbies. If you can get there (safely), apply! It doesn't take a professor of science to know this is great oppertunity to get into this wonderful industry! I just wish i could of had it!
  19. Hiya mate. Just tried ringing but your phone switched off, so i'll try again abit later. I know i'm quite away from surrey, around 2.30 hours drive. But if it gets me working with trees regulary and for me to get somemore climbing experience, i'm willing to travel and eventually relocate. I'll talk more about it over the phone. This is a dam good oppertunity for someone and i'm so hoping this someone is me. Heres my mobile number if you wish to contact me before i get the chance 07884 164201 Speak soon Mike
  20. The time has come and there’s not enough tree work around here to keep me going and finally getting off JSA! So it’s either broadening my area to work and travel or just finding something else until it picks up locally. Relocation isn’t an option but I can drive. So if I can afford to get there, accommodation if necessary and cover the costs, I’ll happily do it. I’ve got little experience, but have a huge desire and the passion to learn and become successful in this industry. I’m not the biggest of chaps, but am hard working and willing to do whatever is needed. I hold my NPTC Certs 30/31/38 and 39, can give excellent references and can send my up-to-date CV if needed. So if anyone, anywhere knows of any work, please PM me. I want to fill up my diary!
  21. Yeah rang them up first thing in the morning. All they could do was just tell me about my certificates, which came through a couple of days. The best feeling in the world Also found my pass paper, it was the last place i worked. So i must of just forgot to pick it up. Being in a rush to impress and all
  22. Brilliant idea!! I'd deffo buy one
  23. Hiya! I'd be intrested. I'll ring tomorrow morning Cheers, Mike
