are we talking pins on plates screwed to posts or pins running right through the posts? i could understand them bending at the plate or even snapping but for the lug or pin to go on a solid one through the post seems very unusual. looking forward to the pics.

sorry sam, ive been fencing for years, it was my trade before getting into trees and im still fencing now but ive never heard that:confused1:im not saying youre wrong but i wouldnt agree. have you ever tried bending those pins? it isnt easy and not sure even possible!

hi all, i'm looking for work on a self employed/freelance basis. currently i have cs30 and cs38 and about 2 years experiance, most of which spent on the ground although i have carried out aerial work under supervision. i plan to further my tickets as and when i can afford to put myself through the courses. im 28 and take alot of pride in what i do. my aim is to eventualy build up my own reputable business. at the moment im concentrating on trying to build contacts and prove myself in this trade while gaining valuable experiance. any days would be appreciated as i hope to start filling my weeks up with work. i'll keep this light reading for now, but for anyone interested please reply on this thread or pm me and i will gladly go into more depth and answer anything you may need to know. thanks in advance, dave:001_smile:

not a criticism but why do you want to replace saw that still runs well? sorry cant offer much advice as ive only ever used stihl so cant offer comparison.

are your sealskins still totaly water proof steve, only i got mine at christmas and after a few weeks i noticed them getting wet in one of the gloves. it was in really wet snowy conditions, but when i got them they were water tight in the same conditions. however i am still impressed with them overall, they kept my hands toasty even spending all day bagging snow covered logs. perhaps they were just an unfortunate faulty pair as ive heard plenty of great reports on them and i was carefull not to cause any damage to them. what have your experiance of feedback been like on them yve? sorry to derail your thread abit mark, btw those gloves look good. i use the same type of gloves but without the lining and theyre pretty good at keeping your hands fairly dry so i imagine your ones must be lovely and a reasonable price too.

unfortunately too true steve. as if we dont have enough to worry about at work with red tape and people trying to leach off of us, now we have to worry about what we do in normal day to day things. what has this world come to when you cant even help someone without dreading the consequences. sad very sad.

good on you dean, a cool calm and collected head and a bit of common sense is all it takes. although a couple of the off duty coppers were controlling traffic on part of the road my mate grabed my hi vis and went up the other stretch to stop traffic there. even if youre not gonna stop and help, at least stop and be patient!

just thought i'd share todays story with you all, i was driving back to the yard after the job today, missed the turning and ended up taking the scenic route back where upon we came across an accident involving 2 cars at a crossroads along the lanes. one car was crushed at the front and the other was turned on its side having obviously been hit in the passenger side. it must have only just happpend as there were no emergency services there yet. some vehicles had stopped but others were unbelievably just driving round! i asked someone if anyone was trapped and unsurprisingly there were two in the car on its side so i went over to see if i could help. there were three people at the car trying to help already and i explained i had some first aid knowledge if needed, but thankfully the casualties were in good hands already as it turns out that these three seemingly ordinary members of the public turned out to be an off duty paramedic, an off duty copper and an off duty fireman, what are the chances of that!? now add to that a couple more off duty coppers traveling back from somewhere together! myself and another bloke managed to rip the windscreen out with the help of a hammer and a thick pair of gloves(dont worry, a blanket had allready been passed into the car to stop them getting showered in glass). the driver climbed out but the passenger was still stuck between the front and back and they had to be removed by the fire brigade who arrived shortly after. fortunately it seems that no one recieved any serious injuries but all went off with a free ride in an ambulance. very lucky indeed.
