  1. You spoke a little to soon there did you not..... looked at the forecast last night and snow was due at around 5pm today, yet I woke up to around 3 inches this morning ( theres a line there somewhere but I hope no one goes there ) and I had left loads of things uncovered trusting the forecast .... weather forecasters should be shot hung brought back to life again and then drowned.
  2. My spirits were really lifted today when a lady phoned and asked `Have you got any logs left`. She said that she had phoned for prices a few weeks ago but has been using what she had left from last year. Panic buying for logs ???
  3. Went there yesterday and now suppling the local postmistress with logs
  4. That is so true .... I think I will like being `The man wot does logs`
  5. I leave A5 flyers. I would say that 95% of my calls produce sales ... because I`m a very nice man .... I really do think that I need to pull out all stops to get my website up and running .... would you believe I used to turn over 6 million a year in a former life .... not logs though
  6. Remember that if you buy it from a shop off the shelf then its already out of date.
  7. I did that and the next time that I visited the store it had been taken down. Assumed it was because they sell nets of logs.
  8. I will get a tipper eventually if the turnover warrants running two vehicles but on all of the deliveries that I have done so far the Barrow bags were definitely the most convenient option for the customer. Thanks for the input Steve.
  9. Yes thats right Dean .. just sit back and watch the can of worms that you have opened ... but tonight I will sleep, due to some very nice sparkling white wine
  10. Ditto .... always wait till its on offer
  11. No ... its how much do you owe ... not how much are you worth
  12. I`m drinking .... see the `How much do you owe` thread
  13. Two knight eye think yew should hall make moor effort two gave the sight a moor profeshinal luck
  14. Around two and a half years ago before I sold my company it was just over one million which is ok till things slow down and then its Oh s...
  15. Why start a stupid thread like this .... how am I going to sleep NOW
  16. To true .... when I had my company (retail) I used to give statutery holiday pay in the first year of employment and then statutery plus Bank holidays thereon .... nothing worse than paying a new employee a Bank holiday then they leave. The government dont seem to realise the burden they put on business with paternity, maternity, sick, training leave etc etc
  17. Its a slow start Steve. I may have made a mistake by waiting 14 months before I started to sell to make sure I had rolling stock of seasoned product. I am getting word of mouth recomendations and have even had a letter from a girl who bought it from me to take to Yorkshire saying `Thank you for the wonderful wood` ( only wish more girls said the same ), but its not taken of as quickly as I thought it might. But I do realise that I need to be patient. Took an order from the postmistress 500 yards from my premises who did not realise that I am now selling firewood. I think I need to SHOUT a little louder about myself.
  18. I have two Clearviews ( Vision 500 and Pioneer 400 ). Brilliant stoves, easy to light will burn anything and look great
  19. Thats the same company that I enquired with. They do Tesco, Sainsburys, Wickes and Homebase. I have already decided against it, deciding that the money would be better spent on other forms of advertising. As soon as I said no I was offered a discount.
  20. Has anyone tried advertising in supermarkets in the little dispensers normally around a stamp machine where you can place your business cards for a fee. If so with what success, I am thinking firewood.
  21. It does sound to me that the Footpath officer may have requested the work.
  22. I spoke to the people that did it ( who incidently had a very red faced off duty PC helping them ) and as they adopted a bolshy attitude and refused to apologise I reported it to the police who threatened to arrest the man if he did not assure me that he would not do it again and apologise. I think his wife was wearing the trousers, she ended up screaming and shouting at me
  23. Exactly what I thought whilst reading the post. I sometimes think that this site is like a shopping catalogue for thieves.
  24. This happened to me a few years ago. Came home to hear chainsaws in the distance so sent my son down to check it out and it turned out someone was chopping my field hedge so that they would have a better view when sat in their garden, They didnt even own the field on the other side of the hedge.
