  1. Had a look and could well be an idea except I would imagine that they are 3 phase which I dont have but I will certainly keep an eye on their auctions in the future.
  2. Strangely enough I sold a 15 metre one last year that was in that old cinema that I was selling ... I really struggled to get rid of it, took £400 in the end.
  3. Originally I was referring to some fresh felled ash that I had collected ... thanks for the link thats perfect .. Arbtalk is better than `Ask Jeeves`
  4. I think I may have seen that on some dead standing ash in my field were the bark was stripped and lots of worm like grooves were in the tree. Do they infest other wood?
  5. It was only felled last week so its a long way off burning yet but sometimes I bring fresh logs inside to put in the inglenook and also I dont want the rest of my logs to become infested.
  6. Would be nice to see her without the rug on.
  7. I`m sure that this must have been covered before but I received some ash recently and it appears to have or had something burrowing into it ... would this be a problem to bring into the house?
  8. Many experienced firewood producers on here dont bother to cover logs.
  9. Sorry Steve... to much to drink last night and brain only just getting into gear .. I meant a forklift
  10. That would be ideal but there is a big difference between 2k and 10k Steve. I`m thinking maybe it would be better to spend 2k on the pallet truck and another 2-3k concreting a bigger area for it to run on.
  11. I was about to start a similar thread Dave. My barn is just about finished and it has limited floor space with loads of height so I need something to lift the sacks/crates ... anyone use a pallet truck? which seems the cheapest option.
  12. Lime is a very good firewood I really dont understand the few very negative comments .. maybe these people should try another business
  13. You need to split a piece and test straight away to get an accurate reading
  14. You should see my wish list
  15. Just read this thread again and I`m now well over 40k and not sold a log yet ... barn on its way up .... oh dear oh dear oh dear
  16. Sorry Sam I was just thinking about the seasoning aspect, I fully agree that they need to be dry for delivery.
  17. Although the jury still seems to be out on whether or not it is necessary to cover vented bags for seasoning. Many experienced log producers on here say that it is not essential and do not cover their bags ?????
  18. Tarpaulins can be a real pain in the neck Sam.... because of the size they are very prone to being caught by the wind and ripped off .... been there got the t shirt.
  19. I spoke to a friend about having something manufactured to sell but quickly realised if successful the bag manufacturers would just make them with covers.... as they should. I find the cheapest option is to buy a roll of black polythene ground sheeting used by builders ( think its called DPD ) and cut it into squares and stick a tyre on the top.
  20. I`m doing another test burn on some poplar that I have got down to about 15% and it definitely warrants a
  21. What form of advertising do most of your sales come from Sam ?
  22. Snap.... same set up as me.. right down to back not getting any younger
  23. Had it been a John Deere I would have recommended Howard Marshalls near Nottingham ( really helpful bunch of lads ) might still be worth giving them a ring 01159630011.
