  1. LOL, and could you make us a cuppa tea? Nice one Dan for posting the numbers:thumbup:
  2. Nice one Daniel, respect for having a go:thumbup: It can be confusing when ur still learning...new techniques, the jargon, the abbreviations, just fly around ur head. Keep learning, questioning, trying new ways and be safe, well done:thumbup1:
  3. It's Sunday at 7 30 i believe, looking forward it:thumbup:
  4. Me to,I find moving around a tree with pole saw so much hassle, like to keep me climbing skills fresh and exciting, cannot be doing with standing in the crown with a pole saw, even dead wooding:001_smile: On the ground I use the soild aluminium poles OR silky telescopic, depends on the job. For climbing I would recommend the telescopic, not as tough as rigid poles but lighter and less cumbersome. Climbing around with a Samuari hand saw does it for me though:thumbup:
  5. Ah,well done,as mentioned before a lighter rope should do, I have a 45m tachyon( specially bought for a huge poplar a couple of years ago) and really noticed a difference in the pull, hardly any, compared to the 13 mm Marlow I was using. I have used the tachyon ever since and now use it for SRT on most climbs.
  6. Hey Paul, it doesn't rain in the UK,ever, lol. I use 5m of XTC 13mm(from one of me old climbing ropes), 10mm blakes hitch with a Petzl Oscillante pulley but have just ordered 5m Blaze, DMM Pinto pulley and O krab with VT of Ocean Poly. Sweet.
  7. Had a great day at APF, took all day to walk around, may come back Saturday to hone in take more notice of things that took my eye ( I live local) Pity you had no small t-shirts tho. Any beer left in the raffle basket, haha?! All the best
  8. Nice one, will see you on Thursday
  9. Ok cool, good suggestions, will run them by my colleagues, I had read diluted bleach is ok. As we can't leave the timber where it is, d'ya reckon we could chip it and remove from site or would that be a no no?
  10. Jeyes fluid does have a weird smell doesn't, dunno if I could walk around with me boots all Jeyed up, good suggestion tho, readily available to.
  11. Hi all, What do you use to disinfect your saws with, we have an Oak with Acute Oak Decline to dismantle and disinfecting tools is recommended by the FC using Virkon, ethanol or Lysol, I would be interested in other products you use to clean your tools and boots with, especially more natural products. Cheers
  12. Is it leaning roadside, bit confused here, if you think it maybe a danger, car jacking or a vehicle hitting it then get in touch with ur local council. Gd luck.
  13. Jumping in here, not read all the posts. That is exactly my thoughts, the RW is a friction device to keep you from burning out hitch cord, if for some reason the RW became unusable you could still descend safely, no probs. Not ppe imo.
  14. I use this as my main attatchment with tachyon, when not using the eye, and for my XTC lanyard. I also use it to attatch a blakes hitch to krabs, I love it, it has never let me down. Oh yeah, i also use it to tie my throw line to the bag and then line to rope to haul up n over, I use it a lot I guess. I do know how to tie other hitches and knots, honest! Good tip from Trees_
  15. Same with me, I find it uncomfortable, so was thinking of the lnner tube instead. Guess you just throw a tube over y' shoulder ( TOYS, another acronym to remember,ha) . It would have to be snug so being a light weight a MTB tube would be to loose and thick ( just tried one on, had a spare in the cupboard, like y'do) . Could chop it or get a kids tube. Never thought I'd be writing about wearing an inner tube, lol
  16. Awesome. I did my first full SRT/RW today, what can i say that hasn't already been said!? Freedom!!!! I was moving around the crown of an Oak like I never have, it feels so natural. As with Marcus, returning from branch walking was no probs. Re-directed a couple of times, sweet. I too need to work on more efficient ascending and TIPs and base anchors and ........... This is a whole new ball game:thumbup: Now I have re-read the whole post as it will make so much more sense, haha. Many thanks for all the positve posts and to Kevin
  17. I bought some cord from a DIY store (B+Q, other DIY stores are available:biggrin:) that does the job nicely, quality tat:001_smile:
  18. Tis the termination I used for ages then switched to the Anchor hitch and still use it. As for uncliping the Anchor,I don't, I un-tie it, advance the line, tie back on,easy. What benefits are you thinking of?
  19. Ditto the above, happy days
  20. Cool, look forward to see how you get on. Shall have a little play time this week to
  21. There's plenty of stuff on YouTube to see y' thru and on the search option on this forum, once you get used to the VT/pulley system you will be amazed, but take it easy whilst getting used to it, as with all new systems, low and slow. Go for it
  22. Cool, Iv'e made up a new tether tonight, you must have had the deluxe tether, only one krab to make it work What is the shortest tether in use? (how short is a piece of string? lol)
  23. I had a little play with my RW today and found out that the cord supplied from HB is way too short, had to add 2 krabs for it to work, gonna make new cord up at least twice the length. The original cord is about 21 cm from the attatchment point on RW, new one will have to be about 40 cm. Does that sound about right ?
  24. For anyone that hasn't used the RW yet (or is) there's a good article in ARB Climber about it, a new magazine that I bought when i ordered my RW, great read all around (new thread maybe?). Ive got a few days off work, so will start to make my transition to SRT/RW on some Limes I reccied today:thumbup1:
  25. The SRT seed has germinated and got RW today, here goes!
