  1. no not nearly lumpy enough!
  2. I think you might be right there!
  3. im glad you said that! you can become a CAS registered "consultant" with a lot less crudentials than either AA reg consultant or chartered forester, that isnt obvious? and yes, did my PTI a while back to get on the first run of the CAS ladder so to speak, a stepping stone, one might say:biggrin: waiting for my results next week hopefully Yes Marks a decent chap, spoke to him a few times at various events:thumbup1:
  4. theres a great shot in the new veteran tree guide showing a man standing some 50 metres from an oak in a field thats just been ploughed for the first time, this meant the roots could be found in situ.
  5. Sloth, its ever so easy to log up hours on CPD, and generaly just about anything you do to learn about arboriculture counts, like Paul says. I think that say to be a ISA master arborist you have to have 50 hours CPD between assesments for renewal (would need confirming) but a typical tep seminar is 5 hours allocation, add your book reading, pdf downloads etc and your time on here and 50 hours soon racks up
  6. that is EXACTLY what I hear regarding CAS membership so dont fret Paul, you and me both saying the same thing. and personaly I think your right, its like an easier grade than ICF or AA:thumbup1:
  7. I suspect the black is the mature phase and the lilac is the imature stage of Hypoxylon mummularium
  8. he plots coming on a treat, bar having to replace with some shop bought corn which got frosted off, gutted its not from seed like the rest.
  9. 10 months in? your a natural
  10. its an awesome MEWP saw too, where space and weight is at a premium. Its about time my commission cheque from stihl turned up:001_rolleyes:
  11. In order to keep everyone happy, would you be able to add/edit or repost on the forum: Offer of taking clean green for free will run until end of April – by prior arrangement and mention of your name. (thats me!) Specifically looking for clean wood for chipping – which can be taken free – contact me (Simon Parthay at Laverstock park farm a ring on 07786226354) for more information.
  12. Oh crap, does recognizing the colour test mean im officially an old fart now then? lol
  13. Fair enough, carry on, but no it doesnt happen to me, it REALLY doesnt, because I wont put myself in such a situation. free climbing in your own time is different to working situations, no arguments. While it may not be Illegal, if anything was to go wrong, god forbid, you would have to come up with a better argument to the investigator than "it aint illegal guvnor"
  14. well whatever it was it is just a butchered tree now
  15. that IS a corker:thumbup1:
  16. im gonna leave these boys to it but your about right in this quote, but all decay assessment tools have their weaknesses. and at the end of the day whatever tool is used when the final assessment confirmation is made before the fell call a increment core is/should be taken to confirm findings and or evaluate residual wood strength and decay type via a fractometer. Ganodermas for example have selective delignification which is not as much a worry as say kretzschmaria on a tension root (soft rot)
  17. We have had high winds in the U.k recently too, last thursday in particular, even healthy trees go down in that kind of weather. lots of trees down last few weeks round here
  18. i am assuming the rope is changeable for any ten mm?
  19. its all lies i tell you, veteran and ancient trees are no1 priority!
  20. symbiosis consulting http://www.symbiosis.gb.com/
