  5. only quoting the headlines, not that you can trust headlines,
  6. if your only lasting that long before going weak (I get this too) then I suggest you get it checked over if its a regular occurence. I get this occasionaly but I have to be really cutting corners diet wise to suffer regular
  7. no it wasn't really, or seem relevant, what needs to be done to be above board has to be done, does make a good case for the price of reports though
  8. you think thats bad, monnsato recently bought a bee research group, and now plan to produce a genetically modified bee resistant to roundup. Its all getting a little out of hand
  9. a good start for a new budding arb is the research for amenity trees series (Lonsdale etc) The VTA field guide (Mattheck) The manual of wood decays (£20 from the arb asscoiation) theres a few others but this is a good start and enough to start you off on a good heading

  18. Introduction to the manufacture of the Longbow today
  19. Fantastic body language, never seen it on tulips. thanks for sharing. The bark death looks like possible armillaria, and as Matty says maybe that is secondary to a butt rotting fungi like Pholliota
  20. I dont really know what the set up is, just trying to help a friend attract some interest. best thing is to ring Simon:thumbup1:
  21. Health can play a part in bud burst too, stressed trees will always be a week or two behind the others IME, interesting subject David. if it was temperature dependent and not light affected we would not see those odd branches around street lights persist all winter. Hours of daylight play critical roles in many phenological aspects, flowering in particular. like you say, be an interesting one for somebody to play with
  22. I love the spring, just because nature is waking up and blossoms like theres no tommorow. I love Autumn because of the bounty nature provides for all life forms to prepare for the winter. spring and autumn are stunning times to be out and about in the woods. The wind and the rain can if prolonged be rather depressing, but there is always that spring around the corner to get you through mentally.
