  1. Well there you go - if you live, you learn! I've never come across them before.
  2. Are you talking about trousers with bib and braces, or are you actually talking about waders?
  3. You've got this problem sorted, Steve. Thanks!
  4. I don't have a wand, but I agree. With the release being used quite often, why didn't the designers see such a modification - possibly a quick release lever on a stock that could be vise-clamped?
  5. Tommy, are talking about the quick-release bolt? I've seen Nick Araya using a wand set in the same way - it looks like a handy improvement.
  6. I've been to both and found that many of the adjustment techniques were similar. The chiro took xrays before any treatment began - thus he had a baseline understanding of the situation. The physio saw a broader picture and gave me exercises that involved stance and posture. I think both were useful, and I feel there's a greater difference in a GOOD and BAD practitioner - regardless of their field of expertise. Hope you get sorted soon. Dee
  7. When I click the Arbtalk address from 'my favourites', the homepage loads and then immediately changes to 'internet page not found'. I then click on the same Arbtalk address from 'my favourites' and the home page comes up successfully this time. It happens this way everytime lately. I hope this helps.
  8. No, it's not just you. I'm on summertime still too. I'm also getting the 'page not found' message, Steve. Once I retry loading the page I then get straight on. Good luck with the fixes, Steve.
  9. Compared to what?
  10. That looks VERY well finished. Nicely done, Onelab!
  11. I've made up a 5:1 pulley system, and wanted a neat start to the rope (it sits in under the double block on a becket - between four strands of rope). Without a splice, the knot would be close to the lengths of 'moving' rope. With a splice, everything's neater. The LSK was chosen because I had a bit of it lying around, and this system is kept assembled and ready to use.
  12. Maybe this is what you mean, Ben.
  13. That's great, Drew. Thanks for your time.

  14. Hi Drew, thought I'd seek some advice if you've got a few moments. I'm starting to splice with 6mm Globe and wanted to know if it's a normal doublebraid splice that you use - or something more exotic? It's smaller, and differently constructed, than I normally work on and I'm reluctant to waste unneccessary effort (and money) on avoidable mistakes.

    Many thanks, Dee.

  15. C'mon Andy. You know it's either Stihl or Husqvarna! Everything is!
  16. It's great that you've made it over, Ted. I hope everything goes well at the show. Dee
  17. Sorry for the delay. I'm not sure why he didn't / doesn't rate it highly. He might tune in and give his opinion later.
  18. No - but Rich H. reckoned it melted too easily.
  19. I agree! Until I read a post on here, by Drew, showing his splice with the cover buried. I don't think it was LSK, but it was kernmantle. I'll try to find the post.
  20. I've worked on a couple now and I don't like them much - it's interesting I suppose, but I find it hard work and at the end you've got what looks like a lop-sided eye splice! I admit that I got better as I practiced the splice - temporarily taping groups of strands etc. - but still find it murder to include the jacket in the final bury. I've seen Drew B's work on kernmantle and he seems to make it look easy!
  21. Any time I've spliced LSK, I've ended up with an equally ugly splice too!
  22. My pet hate is Pomeranians.
  23. Do you mean if the two tails of the hitch are of different lengths so that the climber is effectively hanging on one tail of the hitch?
  24. And instead of just pushing the strands immediately surrounding the extraction point to the side, you start four or five strands away (on all sides) so that you create more room in the centre of the area.
  25. A crochet needle. Have you looked on the Samson website, or on YouTube? There are several methods.
