  1. I have had this a few times in the last ten years. The solution is always a new carb I have tried alot of things to save money and just waste my time instead. I have a few ideas why it happens probably all wrong. An expert petrol engine teccy should be along soon.
  2. I never went and never new it was on and when I did still had no idea who the auctioneer was. The auctioneers job is to get the best price he can for the vendor. I have done the auction circuit for years. There are auctions and auctions. Some are little more than events with price tags if it does not sell they will cart it off somewhere else. But then there are proper auctions when you spend far to much money and need too many lorries but those days are well worth while
  3. I will work out a route plan think I may need several trips already . Hopefully we can help your kindling sales. You need good product reasonably priced and it helps if your customers are too busy and rich. PM will be sent.
  4. I found specs for a 3500kg gross canter which can go 7000kg gross train but I think the small iveco does 2800kg towing.
  5. I will have to do more research. I already have the ideal trailer and have seen some well made merc 814 for a couple of grand. 5k would buy something to go into London with. The 3.5 tonne stuff is no good as it only tows 2000kg. I would imagine a twin axle helps with the towing as well.
  6. If it comes to it I bet a forklift controller is very similar and may give more top end and slower smoother start.
  7. I can tell we have had the occasional fire from the scorched curled crispy tar around the top of the pot. As Dean says if the stove is fitted right you can strangle the oxygen. A good reason not to have a stove dumped in the hearth with 3ft of liner sticking up an unlined chimney.
  8. There are at least 3 sizes and the smallest has only half a metre so that come out to £140 a metre for oak which can be a pain in wood burner.
  9. Your better off with an old truck that does 20 mpg and never misses a beat. Rather than a new electronic 150 bhp 34mpg plastic bling machine that needs £2000 a year to screw it back together
  10. In my opinion if you pay more than £35 a tonne for cord you are cutting up logs for free. Keeping the wealthy classes in cheap fuel even charging £80 a metre it will be a waste of time. But I am biased as I have given up
  11. I have to collect something from Wakefield in Yorkshire so thinking could deliver 100-300 bags of kindling on the way up. Will be going past Northampton, Leicester, Nottingham, Chesterfield up the M1.
  12. I use Pixresizer u can get it free online just watch u dont download any other junk with it.
  13. 800kg would be ok as long as it will tow 3500kg of trailer inc load. Also with better chassis if bed was overloaded it would not show. And technically would not be unsafe although not playing by the rules. The truck should also come with tacho. I am not sure if they are going to change the rules soon about towing with commercial vehicle.
  14. I need to collect about 3.5-4 tonne of sawn timber at a time. I would like to get 2.5 tonne ish on my ifor williams trailer and 1.5 on the bed of a beaver tail. If I buy a 4600kg gross truck and down plate to 3500kg I should be able to stay away from an operators licence ? The whole lot should weigh under 7 tonne.
  15. If you are looking for a Hilux have just about finished with mine.
  16. I hate quoting jobs if it goes well you are a rip off merchant if it goes badly your out of pocket. Often those poor old householders accept your quote because they know there are hidden problems I bet they sleep sound at night. If I am busy I estimate which is fairer as if the job flys its cheaper and if they have some surprises they pay for them. The wealthier they are the tighter they are why be embarressed about charging a solicitor £30 an hour when they charge £200 +
  17. As a qualified hgv mechanic I should service my own vehicles and chainsaws. But I dont as I dont have the time. In my experience there seems to be 2 types of service. Change the spark plug, clean the air filter make sure it runs chuck it back to the customer charge £70 Or Change plug, clean air filter, strip carb and change diaphram, Steam clean fuel tank and oil tank replace with new filters, Remove bar clean clutch and grease bearing, dress bar and sharpen chain, Tune saw and ensure bar oils properly clean apply serviced stickers and present to customer also £70 inc vat
  18. I have the big £400 stihl electric thing. Well made and plenty powerful I would say as good as our ms260 but no antivibes on them. Ok for half an hour now and then but regular use will kill your hands and wrist. Very torquey at slow speed feels like it could kick back more than a petrol.
  19. Our processor used normal chain oil. Then I put bio in. What a mess it all turns to snot. Had to steam clean the tank and oiler system. I have noticed bio goes a bit thick after a few months left in saw. I would stick to mineral if you can especially if you dont use the saw most days.
  20. Try these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WORKSHOP-6-X-BLUE-PAPER-ROLLS-TWIN-PLY-PERFORATED-EMBOSSED-WORKSHOP-ROLL-/180819880364?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a19b469ac
  21. Sounds more like weak ign system ie coil. One or two of my saws have same plug for ten years cant remember the last time I had to remove one. I would say new plug just gives it the edge to run. Or its running very weak and hot and killing the plugs. Not really a petrol man more big diesels.
  22. That looks like a weakness in design from manufacture. I would search on the net and see if anyone else has had the problem how they got over it and if the manufacturer offered any help. Armed with a bit of info talk to the manufacturer the machine may be years out of guarantee but they may offer some help as good will. Machines falling to bits of any age dont look good and yours does not look abused. If I was repairing I think I would remove bracket and repair tank then fabricate a new assy with webs that spread the load under the tank as well as just one face.
  23. I would like it but have sold my big trailer so no way of collecting. I will ask some one I know. Do they want money for it ?
