  1. Depends how big the bag is
  2. In my opinion if you pay more than £35 a tonne for cord you are cutting up logs for free. Keeping the wealthy classes in cheap fuel even charging £80 a metre it will be a waste of time. But I am biased as I have given up
  3. I have to collect something from Wakefield in Yorkshire so thinking could deliver 100-300 bags of kindling on the way up. Will be going past Northampton, Leicester, Nottingham, Chesterfield up the M1.
  4. I use Pixresizer u can get it free online just watch u dont download any other junk with it.
  5. 800kg would be ok as long as it will tow 3500kg of trailer inc load. Also with better chassis if bed was overloaded it would not show. And technically would not be unsafe although not playing by the rules. The truck should also come with tacho. I am not sure if they are going to change the rules soon about towing with commercial vehicle.
  6. I need to collect about 3.5-4 tonne of sawn timber at a time. I would like to get 2.5 tonne ish on my ifor williams trailer and 1.5 on the bed of a beaver tail. If I buy a 4600kg gross truck and down plate to 3500kg I should be able to stay away from an operators licence ? The whole lot should weigh under 7 tonne.
  7. If you are looking for a Hilux have just about finished with mine.
  8. I hate quoting jobs if it goes well you are a rip off merchant if it goes badly your out of pocket. Often those poor old householders accept your quote because they know there are hidden problems I bet they sleep sound at night. If I am busy I estimate which is fairer as if the job flys its cheaper and if they have some surprises they pay for them. The wealthier they are the tighter they are why be embarressed about charging a solicitor £30 an hour when they charge £200 +
  9. As a qualified hgv mechanic I should service my own vehicles and chainsaws. But I dont as I dont have the time. In my experience there seems to be 2 types of service. Change the spark plug, clean the air filter make sure it runs chuck it back to the customer charge £70 Or Change plug, clean air filter, strip carb and change diaphram, Steam clean fuel tank and oil tank replace with new filters, Remove bar clean clutch and grease bearing, dress bar and sharpen chain, Tune saw and ensure bar oils properly clean apply serviced stickers and present to customer also £70 inc vat
  10. I have the big £400 stihl electric thing. Well made and plenty powerful I would say as good as our ms260 but no antivibes on them. Ok for half an hour now and then but regular use will kill your hands and wrist. Very torquey at slow speed feels like it could kick back more than a petrol.
  11. Our processor used normal chain oil. Then I put bio in. What a mess it all turns to snot. Had to steam clean the tank and oiler system. I have noticed bio goes a bit thick after a few months left in saw. I would stick to mineral if you can especially if you dont use the saw most days.
  12. Try these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WORKSHOP-6-X-BLUE-PAPER-ROLLS-TWIN-PLY-PERFORATED-EMBOSSED-WORKSHOP-ROLL-/180819880364?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a19b469ac
  13. Sounds more like weak ign system ie coil. One or two of my saws have same plug for ten years cant remember the last time I had to remove one. I would say new plug just gives it the edge to run. Or its running very weak and hot and killing the plugs. Not really a petrol man more big diesels.
  14. That looks like a weakness in design from manufacture. I would search on the net and see if anyone else has had the problem how they got over it and if the manufacturer offered any help. Armed with a bit of info talk to the manufacturer the machine may be years out of guarantee but they may offer some help as good will. Machines falling to bits of any age dont look good and yours does not look abused. If I was repairing I think I would remove bracket and repair tank then fabricate a new assy with webs that spread the load under the tank as well as just one face.
  15. I would like it but have sold my big trailer so no way of collecting. I will ask some one I know. Do they want money for it ?
  16. I have a very old top handled tanaka saw. It does not have as much power as the stihl. But its half the weight starts on the button and does not get stuck to the shelf with leaking chain oil when you leave it a few weeks.
  17. I like the look of this but I think its a scam Wallenstein Wood Chipper Shredder Hydraulic Feed Hopper | eBay No reply to my message. No reviews The pictures look very american especially the flag at the back and the big no plate on the truck. On the other hand it may be genuine but it wont be getting my bid.
  18. We never used them for deliveries. I used to fill from processor so less stop start than the little metre bags. Seasoned for a year or two then tipped into barn for a few weeks to get rid of the rain. When it came to delivery 4 mins with a bobcat and we were away. These bags would fall over and crush you and weigh over a tonne when green I would stick with the cu metre bags for deliveries.
  19. I dont have experience on electric vehicles. Are they a deep cycle sealed leisure battery ? We were having problems with start batteries and tried nearly everything on the market with mediocre results. In the end gave up and bought the best and most expensive brand on the market Varta. But after 12 months found even these to be mediocre. Tried the Avon brand from Bristol batteries and for the last 12 months they have tested top line in the field. On every service the batteries are load tested and a printout is stapled to the job sheet. The difference between a bad battery and a good one on a standby generator could be someones life. I dont think the Lucas is a bad brand but does not stand out as the best and I think most are made in the far east. I have a bosch battery I fitted to our bobcat in 1999 and it still starts in this weather. I would give Bristol a ring been in business years and honest helpful people.
  20. While you are waiting for those batteries ring bristol batteries they are seriously into that technology and their lead acids for our generators are the best on the market. If it was me I would have those batteries over the weigh bridge and use the money towards a new set. Lead price is high at the moment.
  21. Just had a look at our stock and have 700 bags spare if anyone needs a 100 or so.
  22. We have kindling made from pine that was originally kiln dried. Unfortunately we dont send out on pallets. If you can collect no problem. I am sure Joys kindling will be as dry as kiln dried. The whole kiln dried thing is a load of rubbish once wood, especially kindling is dry its dry.
  23. Do you have anything to pull a tipping trailer if you do should be able to hire one in for the week for £100 -£150
  24. We use the big 1.5 cu metre stripped vented bag. Robust and normally very good but this year its been so wet we have had a few mould problems. Our bags come from lc packaging
  25. I like the easy access platform on the back. It can be a chore climbing in and out of machines with chainsaw trousers on.
