  1. +1 for pg platforms have used them many times excellent service and large selection of machines
  2. I did the level 4 through The Training Tree, this involved attending around 20 sessions over the course of the year. They also offer the course as distance learning as well. Well worth a call to them to discuss things and where they recommend you start. Personally I found the level 2 with HCC a good warm up for the level 4, I already had a level 2 but it was about four years since I had done any studying so decided to do the RFS cert Arb before diving into the L4. I did the L2 with HCC in around 7 months Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  3. I did my Level 2 RFS cert arb with the Horticultural Correspondence College online a few years ago before doing my level 4. It was all done via email and you completed the assignments and emailed back. There wasn't a massive amount of support from them, but then again it is at a fairly low level I did my Level 4 with The Training Tree and the support was second to none, they are much better and more supportive. I believe that they offer the Level 2 online so may be worth checking. For the level 2 you may find it beneficial to buy some of the books on the reading list, although a lot of what is required is available online and via the portfolio that they give you. I believe there is a group set up on Facebook from some guys on here, somebody may be able to advise how to find this. Feel free to ask any questions about the assignments/ workload/content Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  4. The Training Tree are both similar in price from memory. A quick email to each will have the answer but from memory it was around £4K or there abouts. Don't forget to budget a bit extra for some books that will make your life easier and get ready for the workload and to learn a lot! I did mine with The Training Tree and Lisa and the guest lecturers are very good, I would definitely recommend them. Treelife also get very good reviews as well and know somebody doing their level 6 at the moment who rates them Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  5. We had a similar thing on our st6. We were told to take out the leads that connect the 'computer brain' to the display from memory and clean the connectors as sometimes they get gunk on them and stop the signal getting through. This worked for us Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  6. You could try all aspects gardens, Paul often takes chip and they are near Wrotham. Depending which part of Sevenoaks you are working in will determine whether it's worthwhile. 07720 531132. Down to Earth are a big contractor in Sevenoaks, not sure if they allow others to tip there but they may be worth a call if you google their number Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. +1 for Tony Lane as well, very very knowledgable guy, he's got another website called atbest which deals with H&S Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  8. Not sure about the Myersough course but The Training Tree also offer the L4 online if you can't make the lectures Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  9. A little ash reduction from earlier in the week Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  10. Got a quote recently for 2 way control on a 60mph road, operated by their guy and permit and paperwork done by them for £790 plus vat. This was for two days inc all signs, cones and lights Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  11. Duncan Slater's latest research document on forks is available via the AA website or free if you go to the seminar. A couple of links below relate to some of his older work which may help : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8owIcm9abDGWFM0M1pZc0JRU2c/view https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8owIcm9abDGT3NPbndzNXcwWlU/view Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  12. Yeah same here. I spoke to Keeley about the payment option so that's the way I would go. I've paid for the L4 and the unpaid leave to attend lectures means I'm just trying to make some funds back! I would be coming up from Kent, a friend is on the L6 this year at Barcham and as I understand it we would be completing the classes with that intake, we would be in year one and them in year two but essentially in the same lectures. The added benefit for me would be the lift share as well. He said he was reading in the shower to keep up. I'll probably make a final decision in the New Year once I've sorted a few things out, but a meet up would be good, we aren't short of places in this part of the world! 13. A nice one from a few months back now. Polyporus squamosus on Ash with extent of colonisation Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Hopefully I can make the 2017, just got to sort out the funds so by deferring for a year will give me the chance to put some money aside etc. Like you say time is of the essence. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  15. Good advice David, defiantly only a years break for me as I'm conscious not to lapse and let t drag on! I set myself goals of doing my RFS cert ARB in 2015 and then my l4 in 2016, so on target so far. Between the end of the L4 and starting the l6 I aimed to do more one day courses and seminars as well as my PTI. Did my PTI this month and a couple of AA seminars since September. Going to do the 5837 workshops next year and a vet tree course so hopefully keeping the momentum up before embarking on the L6 Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. I nearly started my L6 this year at Barcham's as I know somebody on the course so we could lift share etc. However as I had only just finished my L4 I thought I would take a year off before embarking on the L6 but it is defiantly on the agenda for 2017. Likewise I'm using this time to brush up on some aspects and gain a bit more knowledge first Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. There was this one https://www.forestryjournal.co.uk/media/uploads/cat-267/horse-chestnut-garlic-essentialarb-november-issue54.pdf Although that link is fairly old as well. There was an article published recently I believe but can't remember if it was in the AA mag or the Journal. I'll have a look to see if I can find it Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  18. A bit of polishing from a couple of weeks ago. Large mature weeping Beech we reduced, it had lost limbs on the right of the canopy and a major scaffold on the left. Beast of a weeping beech Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. Cheers Paul, does he still do the training side of things as far as you know? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. Kev Moore from BTS did the AA South East branch talk on bracing earlier in the year. Somebody asked about tickets and from memory I think he said that he runs the course as and when, if you get a date for the training I may be interested depending on location Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  21. Medium 22m Oak reduction, 2d tree really as it has had growth suppression from the other trees in the background Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. Absolutely, a few months ago we were working in a front garden and the neighbour reversed her car off her drive straight into a brand new golf gti and then drove off as she was late for Pilates! Owner of the golf came back and we acted as witnesses but the insurance company added my groundie as the fault person and it got added to his record, took him a week of frantic phone calls to fix it. On the plus side the golf driver was made up we recorded it as her fault excess was big! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. That's bad luck, I had somebody reverse into my car once. To be far they left their details and couldn't have been more helpful in getting things sorted out. I got more trouble from the ambulance chasing lawyers trying to make claims even though I was a mile from the car at the time! What goes around comes around as they say and I would own up as its the right thing to do and I've been in the above scenario. Hope you get it sorted out Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. Cheers for the reply, very smart truck. Don't suppose it has a badge on the back from the body builders by any chance? Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. Nice looking truck. Who built the body and if you don't mind me asking what was the cost? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
