Nice angled back cut produced a lovely rip. Bit of coronetting but work position wasnt great. Not keen on fresh coros but once this has aged a bit it will look just fine.

  9. We had well over a hundred nests as well as finding old nests that were missed from last year. All were removed manually. As David says the park is far too rich a place to start blanket spraying. It was mentioned as a possibility but thats as far as it went. We shall see what happens next year which i think will be pivitol. Glad you are enjoying this thread.
  10. few weeks ago now......whenever i am out quoting i always look in the a-z and look for a wooded common or woodland and grab myself 20 mins to half an hour. 14. Couple of jobs from the last couple of days....... 1-5......dead oak by the roadside. Monolithed with deadwood stacked.....plenty of decay going on. 6-8......15% reduction with mewp to alleviate some weight from this oak over the horse ride. Doesnt sound alot but was surprising how much came off. Earmarked as a future vet this one. 9-10.....small job from today.....just taking the end weight from this decayed limb over the path. If it fails now it will miss target and like to leave as much on as poss. 11-13.....biggish vet that finally succumbed to the ravages of time and decay. This will stay exactly where it is. a few randoms including the remnants of a film set from this week.

  19. [quote name=hamadryad;365925 Dog urine if in vast and frequent amounts does change the soil chemistry' date=' and I have been watching many trees that are in such spots and they are stressed and suffering, through the urea and via the compaction of heavey human interactions.[/quote] The oaks situated around the carparks in Richmond Park are all suffering. Cars pull up, doors open and off go the dogs......P and S everywhere!!! Coupled with the amount of pedestrian traffic these areas are subjected to the oaks are in a bad way and we have had to take a fair number down in the last year or so. The worst hit area for dogs and peds also has a high number of oaks with AOD. A coincidence?? Was it Mr Green who also raised the possibility of worming tablets possibly having an effect?
