    lol.... pictures need posting soon!!!!!
  2. love it!!!! proper old skool!!!!!! how long did it take?????
  3. ive looked at/ welded/ plated / replaced many chassis's on both 110's & 130's, never found any different wall thickness, slight alterations over the years but nothing consistent....... the upgrade is only allowing 500 kg extra gvw, or look at it another way.. 125 kg per corner....... i dont think the chassis is any different!

......10 days in........ hows the tasche's coming along gents?????
  5. i do know of some turners who use a microwave.... pva the ends an give it a try..... prob best not to use the one at home thou.... pop round the inlaws for sunday roast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. in all fairness the small 360's are as capable of tipping over as a 30 tonner, operator experiance is what makes these machines safe or a danger...... try not to pull/ excavate/ or slew whilst the machine isnt level, use the machine to create a level bed on which to operate from, dont worry about making a mess-thats in-evitable!!!!!! when you slew round with a heavy bucket keep the boom low, worst case the machine will tilt over & rest the bucket on the ground. best to use a smaller bucket thou if its pulling the machine over, above all respect the power of hydraulics & bear in mind the weight of the machine, over the years ive pushed big machines to & beyond their limits, not sensible to be trying to climb near vertically in a 17 tonner!!!! i guess overall they are the same as any machine....... only as safe as the operator!!! oh... id say the tekuchi is the better machine
  7. Driving Standards Agency has held a mini-consultation and the new regulations will be in force prior to December. Abolition of the small trailer exemption Paragraph 3 of Schedule 1 of the Goods Vehicle (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995 exempts from operator licensing a ‘small goods vehicle’ forming part of a vehicle combination (not being an articulated combination) where all the vehicles comprising the combination excluding any ‘small trailer’ have a plated weight not exceeding 3.5 tonnes. A small trailer is defined under the Act as a trailer with an unladen weight not exceeding 1020kg. This trailer does not need to be included when calculating the 3.5 tonne limit. However, under the Regulation all the vehicle combination (including any trailer) operating for hire or reward must be included when calculating the weight limit, so the small trailer exemption will be abolished for hire or reward operations from 4 December 2011. However, the small trailer exemption under paragraph 3 of schedule 1 of the Goods Vehicle (Licensing of Operators) Act 1995 will remain in place for operators carrying goods other than for hire or reward. results from vosa public consultation..... 1st two sentances are worrying!!!!! dot results... sorry!!!!!
  8. glad is not just me that keeps things...... even thou i know i will never have the time to do anything with them!!!!!!!
  9. the whole thing is a mess, without a doubt. the 7.5 tonne + sector used to be a big mess with exemptions = xy& z etc. that sector seems to be managed well & the few rogue operators are dealt with, the 3.5 tonne will go the same way, it is inevitable. i know it will cause hardship, some arguments etc but if it keep the roads, our towns/villages & our families safe then its not such a bad thing... 20 years ago drink driving & speeding where more socially acceptable than they are now...... lets face it, time to move an... overloaded transit with a chipper in tow that has never had its brakes looked at isnt going to stop quite as quick it is maybe should..... IS IT???????
  10. but how would they know you are a small trailer operator.........
  11. o licence exempt until its used for commercial purpose i think!!!! your family caravan will be fine, the chipper prob wont be!!!!!!!
  12. i hear you,,,, to some extent i agree....... think further down the road..... will these practises make it more difficult for your most hated competition to run a 3.5 tonne truck????? you know... the not so proffesional type!! with advances in police/vosa in car camera's the unlicensed operator is easy to spot..... yes its going to be hard, it will be a lot harder for others thou:thumbup1:
  13. i can kindv'e see.... why vosa staff can be awkward to deal with......... simply because the public probably make their working day.... unbearable!!!!!!!!!! see previous comments to confirm this............. thatcher days......... dont you think things have come along a little bit since then????? its not going to change so get used to it..... once a vehicle is 'tested to a roadworthy state' it costs very little to keep it that way... simple!!!!!!!
  14. glad to see somebody knows it makes sense!!! on those inspections you will also find out items that have slight wear, items that may need attention at the next 12 weekly inspection etc etc, this can only help the companys that are having 'lean' times!!
  15. some time ago i had a link to a vosa 'consultation'.... it was huge in terms of pages, so much is changing everybody will need to be on there toes, recovery vehicles, forestry vehicles, showman, private trailer etc etc etc, i will try an add a link but to honest it was too big to make much sense of, if only everyone spent as much time talking to people on what they had managed to learn about new rules legislation etc rather than bickering over vosa themselves....... ........................................................
  16. this thread seems to of gone mad...... people who dont like legislation, folk who dont seem to want roadworthy vehicles.... on the road?????????? blah blah blah!!!!!!!!!! seems as pointless as the builders bag discussion@ firewood that invariably pops up up every now & again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. the lithuanian that works in the yard has some methods that work in colder temps than we will ever get...... parrafin or petrol added tho the derv, he lags all fuel pipes same as you would household water pipes, small bits of ply to stop the wind blowing underneath the motor too much, only the last few years have they had access too tank heaters etc, he loves it that he can now circulate warm coolant around his engine all night long!!!
  18. really cant be bothered with this discussion!!!! best of luck to you mark
  19. *As far as the air leak go's I don't know how bad but it was moving so how bad could have been.* end of story as far im concerned.... i stated the first paragraph as we are on a public forum..... what i write is 'without predice to any party' .... thought that might annoy someone !!!!!!!!!!! what difference would it make if i do or dont drive them?? i have a class one licence.......... how would you feel if your family was injured by an ill maintained hgv that couldnt stop because the driver had an air leak, which he didnt see the relevant dangers of because it wasnt major enough to lock the brakes on??????????????????????????????
  20. 'without predudice' i deal with vosa guys most days of every week, my main job isnt arb but commercial repairs... in my experience it must of been a major air leak for 3 points too of been given??? with regards to the fine..... a maximum of £200 per infingement is enforceable.. 1 bad tacho can theoretically cost a driver in excess of £1000 it isnt hard to stay within the law, why moan about it?? on the other side you do get picky vosa inspectors who may seem ott, but.... ive seen some very dangerous vehicles they have prohibited from use, as some one else said.. they are a neccasary evil.. keep tidy & legal & they aint so evil
  21. i dont bother with easy outs, i have some decent ones but if the thread is stubborn you will only expand what is left of the stud & lock it even more!! look for the stud extractors with a spline that you tap into the drilled hole, blue point do them at reasonable money, or use a small torx bit tapped gently into the hole!!!!!!

haha, 1 month to grow the... 'magnum' ( the daddy of the 'taches!!!!!!) lol!! im in!!!!!!!!
  23. cracking little machine.... some thought has gone into that!!!!!!!
  24. a radial arm saw would do those cuts very quickly.....but,,looking at the state of the joinery on the stool i think id have a go with a small carving bar & a tube of no nails!!!!!!!
  25. cracking machine but..... they wear out tracks/idlers etc very quickly, when the tracks get worn they throw them off very often, people then overtighten the tracks which wear's everything else a bit quicker!!!!!!!! good machine if it only has one or two operators who turn it rather than slew it round everywhere!!!!
