  1. all you guys will be surprised how quickly you will get up the poles with no practice.the safety rope pretty much helps pull you up the pole you guys will be fine. its addictive though
  2. id always be up for a reccy climb, as for entering the comp just do it, theres plenty of times its quiet if thats what your worried about. ie get there before alot of people arrive or after alot have already left the show.
  3. last week was my tallest and also the most simple. 100ft chunky pine tree just spike straight up and drop everything, then on way down crash off some big lumps of timber till i got it down to about 30ft then fell the trunk had alot of trees that are wider than they are tall and they always seem taller some how.
  4. just a little willow reduction from this week, couple of hours climbing
  5. couple of pics from day last week, little birch reduction had the other one to do aswell after that, then the big horsechestnut in background and one of the guys on the avant little tractor lifting out 10ft lumps of 3 pines that we felled day before the final pic you can see half of the horsechestnut only place i could stand and get a pic. birches took hour for both of them and the horsechestnut was done by dinner time with platform. also little video of birch reduction thought id try something different other than removals, far from exciting stuff but hey ho [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfGcVNlHWbU]YouTube - birch reduction.avi[/ame]

  7. i get loads recently ive been getting 20 odd calls a day. i just ignore it if i see its a 0800 etc numbers, does my head in, they never will get the message though
  8. i said leave it as a pollard just above the failed limb but im just the climber see what the tree officer says to the boss at weekend, no signs of bats was a old hatched birds egg in there that was it.
  9. finished off clearing up the limb that came down since neighbours let us round there side today finally. a few more pics we realised theres another hole on the side we couldnt see, so looks like this tree will be comeing down the plan is to take couple of big lower limbs then fell the rest in oner the pic of the decay is looking up from top of the ladder to the top of the folk that split out.
  10. had to clear up this old girl yesterday afternoon and this morning and after the guy im subbie climbing for meets tree officer at weekend to look at the tree, should have to come so should be dismantling this next week be good for the helmet cam amyways.
  11. my dad isnt interested at all in anything practical hes useless. he managed to assemble a flat pack bbq upside down. whereas my self ive been building go karts, doing welding and wood work etc since i was about 4. started off with my grandad amazing to see his generation and what they can do out of what now a days is called total junk. its all to do with trying and failing and trying again and again, id never taken a engine apart before but then my 3120xp piston blew up so i took it apart my self cleaned all bits of piston outta crank and exhaust, salvaged wat i could ordered the new parts fixed it all. i dont see whats the harm in trying if you get in a mess take it to the shop they will sort it. my motorbike i took it all to bits fitted all new brake lines and engine hoses new exhaust, new body, new lights endless list. at end of the day if you dont try you wont sucede how i look at it.
