  2. i used to travel 60 miles to grantham where this guys yard was, then most his work was 30 odd miles away in lincoln. so if my maths is right that works out 900miles a week.
  3. well dont ask me how i manage it but when i tell people i still havent had to sharpen my saw since how ever long there surprised cause its still like a brand new chain. but then im mostly doing pruneing work which isnt hard work for a chain. when its getting blunt i sharpen it. whats point saying ill sharpen it twice a day if its still cutting like new.
  4. ive had same problem with the pantin which isnt modified keeps poping off still practice makes perfect.
  5. very true this world has turned stubid it really has.
  6. i did see that 50 quid bit but thought id just say its worth buying good quality since its got alot of abuse to hold up too in a tree. these people will sort you out with what ever u want. 7. i bought a cheap helmet cam but it was useless. id recommend to you buying a vio POV 1 or 1.5 they are the best in my opinion epensive though.
  8. i hardly ever sharpen my saws if im honest. mainly cause i never really have to use my ground saws and my top handle hardly ever needs sharpening cause theres not alot up tree to blunt it.
  9. not the brightest spark i dont think.
  10. only used a mewp once for a conifer hedge one day rest is good old rope and harness.
  11. the only echo saw ive been around was guy i climb for he used to have a echo top handle. it was useless hard to start even harder to keep running. but things change maybe there good saws now
  12. councils seem to care more about the cost not the quality of the work in my area must be the same in your area.
  13. im just as lazy i never use files anymore. ive got a bench grinder at home and for on site ive got the oregon sure sharp which is a great tool for the cigerette lighter.
  14. im just guessing that they use the same solid tip husky bars on the 395xp as they do on the 3120xp. if so u could get away with a 42" bar wouldnt have alot of power with it but still would get job done if needed.
  15. you could even get away with sticking the 42" bar on there i would say its next saw down from the 3120xp. the solid tip husky bars fit on 395xp so id say you could get 42" for it.
  16. just ordered my second pantin want to see how well this works
  17. saw this vid on youtube looks like a very handy machine for peoples yards i have a feeling it wouldnt stand up to much use though. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1AIFN9lais]YouTube - Norwood Industries SkidMate - Tree Felling Jack - Log Skidding Arch - MultiMate[/ame]
  18. ooo basically what i done then. i properly use a winch once twice a year so i wasnt prepared to spend loads on turfor, so choose cheap option maybe it wasnt my best decision. still should be alright for conifer stumps which is is most the time.
  19. anyone here herd of or used ace hand winches. i bought one today seems good enough for the job what is your thoughts on them. any good or bad points to them? ive never herd of them before so dont no anything about them.
  20. nice pics. i love my rock climbing always go to peak district or north wales when the weather allows
  21. for a 11mm rope id have 8mm, 13mm rope id prob have 10mm
  22. a good trick i got taught at college was stick a long twig in the gob, so it sticks out both sides of the tree. then you can see where your gob is plus it helps with getting the height of the backcut. hope this helps.
