  6. i think this is the cut your on about??? we got told it was a leaning tree cut. hope it helps.
  7. the first day you use your brand new saw the guy your working with sticks your bar cover through the chipper
  8. dont no why they havent done that yet its the obvious thing it needs lol.
  9. yep you guessed right half the height and dont touch the sides. so was abit of a struggle to get out on the tips with such a level anchor point. had to lower basically everything all had to have pull line on it took ages to lower. still client is very happy now so another happy customer and im happy with the reduction for once so all good.
  10. no pics of when we got there. im sure you've all seen it before seems growth points dont matter to them people. thing is the guy who done half of it then done a runner for watever reason has the local council contract because hes cheaper.
  11. had to finish a job some guys desided to half hack. client asked if they could take abit more off then they cleared off without doing hardly any of it. they never came back so we get called to come sort out the mess. as it happens it turned out very well. i think it looks really good, there was 6 beech trees all bunched together and we managed to shape it to look like 1 tree. nightmare to lower stuff though which was most of it as you can see its over a shed, patio, house, and fence behind them.
  12. now that is a good looking machine. i think im just really lazy i just cant stand sharpening chains by hand at all havent done it by hand in over a year.
  13. bought a brand new husky 460 two years ago for £450. went into the dealer today to trade it towards a new 372xp. gave them my saw and £350 sorted works out they gave me £425 for my saw so its lost £25 over two years good deal i say. cant wait to stick my new saw into the wood tomorow.
  14. sounds like a new carb is needed. i had exactly the same happen it even worked fine some days and then other days it wouldnt work. took it to the dealer and new carb still under warrenty works fine everybodys happy.
  15. a hollow beech tree which council years ago filled up with stones from bottom up about 15ft to where they must have filled it through a cavity. that was fun logging up
  16. has anyone thought of haveing like a gri gri at base of tree, with the rope going up the pole and through a tied off sling and krab thn onto your harness. so if you did need rescueing all the groundie needs to do is lower you by the belay device at the bottom quick and simple and easy to set up, and easy to move down as you move down the pole.
  17. i would be better off to use a figure 8 but to be honest i never really get tall poles to dismantle, so i never need to desend on the line. which is why i just have prussic so if i slip im safe and desending short distances is alright on prussic.
  18. just cause its easy most the time i climb on a prussic so i just tie it off with running bowline and ive already got prussic tied on rope. it holds if i slip but i wouldnt decend on it.
  19. i always have a running bowline and prussic.
  20. it does now you mention it. but thats just a lorry stoped at the traffic lights in the distance and a branch on the floor the chipper is behind the platform road wasnt closed off at that point by the police
  21. we managed to get 1/3 of the ashes felled so overall was a good day really was good to jst crash through them. they only closed road for couple hours max just when they cleared up the accident etc. properly another 3 days i would think to finish all ashes you can see in pic 1 how far the row is it ends where the end of the field is. there is another dead oak covered in ivy comeing down to 5 meters aswell
  22. pics of a big job today. complete nightmare job on very busy main road. we had 300meters of traffic lights and cones set up. then had me and another guy felling a row of ash coppices. a team of 3 guys and a platform pruneing dead wooding 2 oaks then 1 dead oak to pollard at 3 meters up, covered in ivy. then at mid day we struck gold a drunk driver desided to take out 3 cars at are traffic lights we had all blue and toos, they closed the road off completely. so we could just crash down everything we wanted not every day you get police close road off and then u get chance to fell loads ashes straight across all the road. loved every second of it course the traffic guys said we will be set up from 9am till 4pm but didnt get set up till 9.45 and wanted to leave at 3pm
  23. no one can always pick a branch that isnt going to snap you can pick one that properly wont snap. thats like saying everyone knows when a trees going to get blown over. i was roped in above just out on another stem rope was level had lanyard on stem i was on branch snaped and lanyard slipped all down bare stem till it hit the branch i landed on.
  24. we found that if we didnt use cones or signs the public seem to walk around us. Yet if we put cones and signs and barrier tape up they walk through it.
  25. id totally agree with you on all that esspecially, the holding the chainsaw with 2 hands. Only cut my self once and that was branch i was standing on broke and i landed on my chainsaw so i guess sometimes you just cant help these things.
