Ive heard the quality of the Brit tipp job is much better and cheaper too than auto lift, think all the steel work is galv rather than powder coated

I'd have to agree with Steve on this one although i appreciate all your comments.I was a fab/welder for 10yrs and used to build/weld gas/petrol road tankers for few yrs of that so i know the ins and out of doing the job but these days i know i have'nt got the time or the right gear to do the job,in the time it would take me to get the same results that they could achieve i could prob earn a good portion of the cost doing a job that im better equiped to do these days. But fair play to the lads who are keen enough to have a go their self

Has anybody had a tipper conversion done by Brit Tipp? Im looking to get my Landy done soon and was recommended these today, ive looked on their website and they look quality but would like to hear of any experience anyone might have of them, thanks
  5. Prob a cold caller mate,i had same 2 weeks ago, pikey door knocking, fella told him he already had some one to do job,he said he would do it cheaper and asked if he could have job, fortunately the customer had morals and declined, its people like that who are spoiling it for legit firms imo
  6. Agreed if they are on the fiddle its not on but if they are having a genuine go at it and going the right way about it fair play to them,as said everyone started out at the bottom except those who were handed it on a plate
  7. If someone was working a second job stacking shelves in a supermarket at weekends would that offend or would you think good on them for working hard and providing for their families??
  8. In my limited experience i'd say positioning is the most important factor for safe working, take a few extra minutes to get in a position so your not over reaching or cutting with the saw in a position that can cause harm if something unforseen happens. I guess we all do it more often than we should but i reckon most accidents happen when someone is reaching out in an awkward position or cutting above your head cos you cant be arsed to go up the next level.Touch wood ive not had an accident yet that caused injury but when ive had near misses its usually for that reason

    mini mog

Bugger...i was keeping quiet about that cos i was thinking of placing a bid:001_cool: Lol. What do you reckon it'd be worth? It does'nt have PTO which would have been handy but otherwise looks a handy bit of kit.Are they quite rare cos ive googled it and cant find another like it anywhere:confused1:
  10. I'd love a mog but im a pauper, thats why im exploring other avenues but i realise it might not be worth the hassle....but worth asking around i reckon
  11. Could you fit and run a PTO chipper to a landy pick up?
  12. Try Fountains or Tilhill or any of the big utility companies, not the most rewarding of arb work but it pays the bills and gets you experience
  13. Not the first time its been butchered!
  14. Just out of interest what distance has the DNO set for the live zone for the elec companies you guys work for?
  15. Nice, looks like a Park's bred dog ive got here. What breeding is yours?
  16. Is that a working terrier i spy in your avatar there 3 Dogs?
  17. Bugger! Bowline it is then! Cheers Steve
  18. No im afraid its been used last couple of months
  19. As above, its Arbormaster, Kernmantle, i think:confused1: Could do with getting both ends spliced.Anyone local to Barnsley/Sheffield do it and what sort of cost? Thankyou please:001_smile:
  20. Hex Armour gloves are pretty good against thorns and you can climb in them too
  21. I was a plater/welder for 10yrs before so not a prob on that side of things but i know nothing of tinkering with cars.Could i use the original tub thats on so it looks the same and just fab a subframe underneath to mount it on with the ram etc?
  22. Im thinking about getting my 110 hi cap converted into a tipper with aluminium box and tool box.Anyone had this done? Can you recommend anywhere that does it and give an idea of cost?? Thanks

    Too old?

Best climber ive seen is about your age,he can do it all day long but he's got the technique so does'nt have to put as much hard slog into it as someone less skilled. I reckon you've got a few good years left in you yet. Not sure about you not interfering with yourself too much tho....you need to get that sorted mate or you'll be stuck in a miserable existance for the rest of your life...lol
