  2. I put some links to some on the Lanyard problems thread, dont think they'd be much good for actual work positioning as they dont seem to be able to set at required length but for a secondary anchor point they look pretty neat and tidy
  3. SALE - Protecta Rebel AD111A by Protecta - 11 ft. Web - $123.25 - PK Safety Supply I wonder if they do one that you can lock at required length while cutting then unlock so it retracts while climbing
  4. Would these be any good to anyone? The 11ft one would suit most needs and not too expensive SALE - Self Retracting Lifelines - Confined Space Equipment - Gas Detectors - Gas Monitors - Gas Sniffers at PK Safety.com

  8. What about making an Espalier type fence/hedge with them?
  9. Im using 13mm rope Bob and mine would'nt self tend even with around 40-50ft of rope below although it pulls through without too much trouble.Does it need to be 11mm to get the best out of it for self tending?
  10. Nice:thumbup1: Just got myself a sj2 and im really liking it now... cant quite work it as well as that yet tho
  11. Well guys i followed the advice of Bob and Deer man and loving it now:thumbup1: Jonny, previously i was taking 4 pulls then tending left handed, was'nt keen on that method but now ive put a sling between as suggested which is long enough to pull from below the sj but still short enough so that i can operate it at a comfortable arms length for descending. Got the thumb brake sussed now too so i think we'll get along fine now. Used it set up on a pulley and its a breeze on long ascents. Thanks again guys:thumbup:
  12. You can use an inboard step cut to avoid it taking the saw with it.
  13. He's known only as Ginner... like the stig,no one knows his real name.
  14. I have a friend who is an ex BT engineer who can repair or drop lines while work is done and re-instate afterwards. If anyone ever needs him drop me a PM and i'll pass it on.
  15. Kind offer Bob i'll give you a shout if im struggling:thumbup1:
  16. You can buy cheap trackers that operate in a similar way, search real time tracker on ebay to find some, you just keep the sim topped up with credit so you can check its location
  17. Will any cambium saver do the job Bob? The rope guide looks a tad pricey
  18. Ok cheers fellas i'll give that a go,sounds like that would suit me better, thanks for your help
  19. Cheers Deer man.So how would that work do you pull the rope from underneath rather than above the sj? And would you then once you,ve reached final anchor point remove the sling to work around the tree? Forgive my ignorance:001_rolleyes:
  20. Alright guys? Just recently bought a spiderjack and just fiddling about getting used to it.Now i can see how descending and branch walking etc will work nicely with a little practice and patience, its ascending i think i'll have more trouble getting used to.Not used to the hand over hand technique as im used to blakes or prussic.Im finding it harder on my arms/elbows than previously (the reason i changed to sj was to make it easier on my aching bones). So what is your favoured method of ascent using the spiderjack? Thanks
  21. Why not stick with your mon-fri job and climb on a self employed basis at weekend?
  22. I come across him all too often ...Erm...i'll get my coat again..
