  1. i was in reme for a couple of yrs, as a vm. tbh i saw how slow promotion was for this trade and got to play with some big toys so i thought sod it try something else. 10 yrs on and i still have the tshirt:blushing:
  2. i think his attitude is once hes made the sale he doesnt want anything else to do with it. its only cos his man damaged it on delivery that i even got him to come and look at the machine. (note he lives about 20ft from the workshop) And then he didnt seem to know anything. was more interested in asking me questions and what every answer i gave that was the reason for it not working:sneaky2: the irony is it went in and was working to a certain degree, 2 wks later came back with no hand brake and a flat battery! its not rectified yet, was meant to recieve a call first thing today to let me know whats happening, neadless to say the call still hasnt come. will let you know.
  3. the main reason for my post is more to astabilsh if anybody knows the correct procedure. i have been grinding stumps out for over 10 years from small push along ones to big ones ( preadtor 75). my small one (450) is near enough brand new, not done 10 hrs. it went in to have a hand brakes cable replaced as it was damaged on delivery, they put a new one on and now it doesnt work. the dealer is now trying to blame me saying i damaged it by grinding with the brake on. thing is i check the owners manual and it does not say anything with regards to grinding with or with out the brake on. Basically he is trying to worm out of fixing it. hence why i am asking what others do. the other question was if there was any other adjustment other than the screw uo by the handle. because the dealer and the mchanic dont have a clue and so far have no joy getting the info out of laski.
  4. yep thats what i thought. the dealer i got it off is trying to say it may cause damage, thus laying any posible blame on me! just had a look in the owners manual and it dont say not to gring with it on, then again its a bit vauge with the dos and donts.
  5. YES. if u havent paid yet then dont. pay when u r happy, thats what i tell my customers. look carefully at the wording of there quotation, if it say to clear up all waste then you got a good argument. if it says it does not include the removal of the stump grindings then that side of it u wont win.
  6. hi all i have a preadtor 450 and was chatting to a guy who said that when grinding the hand brake should NOT be on, and it should be held in position by gently applying the forward or backward drive levers. i have always been under the impression that the u position the grinder in the required position, apply the hand brake to keep it in the right place and then grind away. Apparently the 450 is the same machine as the greenmech an another machine, all produced by laski in the checz republic. they just spray it the required colour. Another question, is there any adjustment on the handbrake, apart fron near the top lever(with the big spring). my machine has just had a brand new cable fitted but it does not work at all. many thanks jose
  7. anybody else bought one? we got one the other day for one of our ms200t to compare ( and my brother cant sharpen the saw very well). My opinion- dont get one if you are a professional, ie use saws everyday. The first thing is it feels like you need to take the rakers down. found i kept reaching for the files! doesnt like cutting thin barnches, its ok on the thicker stuff. Once we tried out sharpening it i got to say it didnt cut as good as when we first got it. this is my opinion but i wouldnt buy it again. really ideal for a diy style home garden guy just doing the odd bit of cutting but not for everyday stuff. though i could be tempted to try again if they ever sort it out for use of big saws( hate sharpening the 046 with a big bar on!)

    old harnesses

I tried that idea on the wife but it was a no she said that with all the mirrored glass in the room it would be an accident waiting to happen Yeah i bet you did. you dirty *******! though might make the proposal to my wife later:001_tt2: ok cheers guys. think i will bin them then, otherwise i know one day my harness will be all wet and horrible and they will tempt me:thumbdown:
  9. Is there a use for them once they are done climbing? i got 2 williams harnesses sitting in my garage both are old so i dont use them at all. I will proberly just take them to the dump, its just a small part of me wonders if they could be used somehow safely in a non climbing way i guess. or ami wasting my time and should just get down the tip? cheers
  10. yeah i had similar thoughts. thing with me is i dont trust anyone when they start asking for money. think i will give this one a miss. cheers guys
  11. got a call from a guy plugging the .gov line asking if i was interested in LA work. Spoke to him today and hes was selling it to me, how they email me within hours of tenders and jobs that the LA's have and looking for compaines to do the work, in order to help smaller companies get work and save the councils money. It does cost anything at all. just got to sign up. This is great i thought where do i sign! Then.... there is just a £99+vat annual fee. Doh! has anybody hear of this company or used them? The website is dgss.co.uk I just had a quick look and it does not make me want to reach for my wallet. seems a bit vauge to me. Any thoughts please! cheers
  12. Hi all i am takeing down 3 oaks on tuesday, in Windsor,Berks providing the weather isnt too bad. U can get a truck rightnext to the fence, and if u have a hiab u can lift out some decents poles (over the fence). They are not giant, about 3ft or so at the base. if nothing else it can be firewood. If anybody wants some (collection only ) drop me a line. cheers Jose
  13. Oh yeah its a 45m! Costs about 920- 960 i forget now. we got him to take us up to the top and let me tell u 45 m dont sound like much but i was holding pretty damn tight to the rails!!!!! yes its a bit windy to say the least and boy is it high! but it made a world of difference. in the pic u can see a building, well up the top of the trees u couldnt see it at all! Add to that there were gas pipes, fibre optic cables and god knows what hidden in the bushes. my biggest surprise was just how far horzintally it can reach. i kept saying thats it, thats it and he would go no joke about another 25ft out! U got to love technology. i used a co called panther, very nice and turned up when they said they would. no complaints.
  14. just to let everybody know after reading this i did a horrible load of pops, 19 in total. First half had a 45m truck mounted, followed by a 35m truck mounted. we did it in 2 days, if climbed it would have taken about 10days. got to say it made a world of difference! i was tired but it is something else to get right to the top of a pop feeling totally safe and not even breaking a sweat! if only i could get more clients to pay! One question i have is what do you all do if you cant get any machinery to aid access? I did 2 yesterday, covered in ivy, proberly 70ft tall ( had been reduced before). I basically climbed to the top and then handballed it down. Untill the top of my anchor point is off it was a a** clenchermoment! Was wondering if anybody has any hints/tips. In all honesty taking into account how brittle they are how likely is it of a pollared limb breaking out? the ones i was on was about 30cm thick. if i can find some pics i will post them, but not hopefull im afraid jose
  15. the saw gets wet a lot with the rain, also its in a none heated building so it does get the temp fluctuation. Didnt get a chance today but i did find the winter baffle. i have taken it off loads of time in the past and never knew it had a secondary position! will have a feel of the fuel can tomorrow, just got convince the tighter other half (businuess partner) that we should get a plastic jerry can instead. cheers guys
  16. no idead about the winter baffle, though will definately have a look tomorrow. the plug is definately black, not grey or brown. i will be pulling it apart a bit tomorrow if i geta min to have a look and clean all the mentioned parts.
  17. do you mean the small square filter inside behind the main carbureatta filter? and yes i do use a metal jerry can. where would the winter baffle be exactly, tbh i have not heard of this before.
  18. i have repalced the clutch springs as these have worn out in the last 3-6 months. i always clean the airfilters, will look at the other bits tomorrow given time. thanks for the quick replies.
  19. Hi all. i got a 200t which is at most 1 1/2 yrs old. always run fine untill recently when it would run fine but not idle, ie it would cut out everytime i stopped reving it. it didnt seem to matter if i upped the idle or adjusted the fuel settings. then the other day it just cut out and would not start again. I took out the spark plug and it was very sooted up. i cleaned it up and the saw started fine again but still wont idle. i run all my other saws, blowers etc on the same fuel and nothing else has any problems bar i old 011 which i was recently given which seems to be suffering the same problems. i put a brand new spark plug into the saw but this has made no difference. i am not sure what is the best move to take next. does this sound like it the carburetta (excuse the spelling)? many thanks for any advice.
  20. Crane it! its so much faster, also there is (within reason) so much less to go wrong or break and its a hell of a lot more gentle on ur back!
  21. free hand everytime!
  22. Where abouts exactly and or a phone no. I am local and always looking for a place for chippings. Is it free dropping or is he looking for payment for it? I got a number off a site which had loads of info on woodchips qulaites etc for selling on as a bio fuel but cant find it now. I do know that the guy i spoke to said they paid 10per ton and their trucks held 26 tones a time. not sure what the current rates are at present though. cheers
  23. humm i think you may be right. ok thank you for your input, i really dont want to invest in something to find out its not going to work out ( especially financailly as really thats why we all do it!). Many thanks Jose
  24. i had not really thought of it from that angle! Interesting, and not really in a good way! thanks for the reply! anybody used a Eco-Combi? Its spec says it can chip and shred. is this a viable option for a tree surgeon as surely i would never have any sweepings etc ever again! cos losing chippings is not problem but rubbish is. cheers
