  1. I am trading in my chipper and after some advice. I have a timberwolf tw125, had from new for 4 yrs. Great little machine, not a lot wrong tbh. I am looking at replacing with either a new tw125 which is basically the same machine ( apart from a newer engine) or a new Greenmech 130. I guess really i am after advice on the greenmech as i have need used one before, also i know about the round blades they use but not experienced them ( ie life span etc). The guys at the show have the sales pitch and talk about hrs etc but i would like to hear from people who use them day in day out. does anybody out there have any words of wisdom, can you tell me of any short comings or failings these machines may have. Price wise they are near enough the same so really after things that affect day to day running. All and any thoughts much appreciated. Cheers Jose
  2. Forgive my ignorance but if shipping costs r so high and it's not a massive volume being produced could it not be actually manufactured over here ? I would use it but have trouble getting over paying 2-3 times the price! I have never suffered from the smoke so don't have a burning desire to swap for a much more expensive product. I fill up my 20ltd jerry can for £23 or so. Aspen is approaching 20 for a quater of the fuel. Be interesting to see the profit margins of aspen. I know that everybody needs to make profit or else it's not worth operating but from my position there needs to be a reasonable margin. Or else we end up with companies like the gas and electricity companies that lie and rip us off so bad claiming its due to the market values an then turn around and post profits in the billions!
  3. my little tw125 chipper is unbraked and has a wire rope loop about 3inches long. So i assume its not covered by the regulations then?
  4. man all i have found was this brick, a good 15ft up a sycamore. Cut it clean in half, saw didnt like it much
  5. COLLIER ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES LTD KITSMEAD RECYCLING CENTRE KITSMEAD LANE KT16 0EF CHERTSEY Phone: 01932 872912 As long as its clean chippings they take it for free! Dont bother with logs as its very expensive! cheers
  6. just watched a demo video. Love the idea but my god did that look slow! it nearly stopped with really thin branches. I got a tw125 and it wouldnt even slow the engine down let alone activate the stress control on what that shredder was doing. Guess i will have to wait till they can speed up shredders ( without having to buy a monster one ) before getting one.
  7. lots of people need a break i think. Jockey wheels are a constant pain, normall as they get on they slipp a bit ans then drop down. normally due to the crap cheap metal they use on the clamps.
  8. You drive 25 miles to a job and get out and the groundy says " wheres the chipper?" ha ha i say, get out and theres no chipper! frantic call to the wife and luckly its still sat outside the lock up waiting to be hooked up! still cant belive i drove that far without no realising it was there! lucky she blocked it in with her car and waited till i got back, a bit red faced
  9. I think you are right. Need to make some phone calls next week and see what they say. guess i can always take the monday off after Cheers for the advice. Jose
  10. I have to quote to work on some trees over a bus stop, just raising them really but its a constant busy road with an equally busy pedestrian /cycle path. Its busy at least 6 days a week (not been there on a sunday) otherwise i would do it on a saturday. Its located outside a major council civic centre, and i have had no end of trouble with all types of managers coming out and causing me trouble even though its not there department. On top its next to a registery office who kick us off site due to the noise even though we tell our site contact of our intended dates and times. Got 2 questions really. 1) is it possible to get the bus stop moved say 50 yards down the road for the day and if so how much does this cost? 2)will probably need to have traffic lights setup, how much is the hire of these these days? (for 1 day only set up) All help much appreciated! Jose
  11. i bought a old 4 inch entec, worked great for about a yr, then had problems constantly. in the end even the timberwolf dealers couldnt fix it! got a brand new 125 and have never looked back ( that was 5 yrs ago). personally i find everything in the tree game from you rake to your truck takes a beating, buying second hand is just asking for trouble. Yes find if you have the tools, knowledge space and time to repair your own then crack on. If i lose 1 days work from a broken machine thats at least 2 months paymeants for the chipper! not to mention the cost to repair and the headache it brings. Always buy the newest u can.
  12. here is our old body put back on and painted. unfortunately where it was sand blasted the sign writing isnt sticking well so needs some more work.
  13. here is stage one to keep us working
  14. i have done 1500 miles in the last month since getting the truck now. thoughts: Its not as easy to drive as the transit. by this i mean the gears dont go in as easy or as light. Has quite poor torque. cant count how many times i stalled it in the early days! ok now i am use to it. if you let the clutch out a fraction before alceraeting then it just doesnt pick up the reves and you end up going nowhere. mine is the 150 hp modle. really they are only minor faults but the only ones i have found. oh and the bloody thing beeps and cuts the radio out until you put on the seatbelt. damn safety! plus side: more room in the cab, more cubby holes for all the bits and pieces, more storage under the seats. AC- so good on a hot day! Cheaper ! bought mine as a pre reg with 30 miles for the same price as a 2 yrs old transit with 10k. Hopefully less desireable to the gypos but time will tell i guess. Get some pics up soon Jose

    Chippings road?

stop stop! no i dont want and cant spend loads building roads, plus i always thought in the back of my mind if i built a proper rd would the council come along and sniff out the potential to make more money out of me. its a shame as obviously we generate 1-2 tones of chippings a day but these have leaf mixed in, not just wood. i hopefully can get use of a farm loader so can get round the mud issue, just makes life a bit more double handed. thanks for the info though guys. jose

    Chippings road?

Thats what my partner said tbh but i thought i would ask others who have actually done it. Thanks for the fast replys Jose
  17. I have use of a field however it gets very wet and muddy. If I put down a thick layer of Chippings, say 2-3ft deep would that help to spread the weight of my 3.5 ton truck? Or am I dreaming and are just going to sink straight through? Any thoughts welcome
  18. was havong a quick look into this and its a bit of a grey area. it seems possibly if the police recover it for forensics than they may be liable but if its deemed a abondoned vehicle and is just to be recovered ( to prevent further damage and or parts theft) then this falls under a road act and is not the polices resposibility. Like i say a bit of a grey area!
  19. lol i am going to try and find out which camp it actually is, so if my truck goes again i can go straight round there. i think its safe to say that nobody here has much faith in the police then. i am going to make a formal complaint against the old bill for there absolute uninterested attitude in solving this crime. and a quick question why do you have to pay £300 to retrieve ones own property? its mine, i already paid for it. also i have already paid council tax which a part of it goes to pay for the police. feels like getting robbed all over again!
  20. Sorry its a bit short notice, was let down by my regular guy. After a groundie tomorrow monday 28 may in Bracknell berks. Dragging brash and chipping (or even just dragging). pm or text me on 07867523823 many thanks jose
  21. yes and no. After yrs of hard work and sh~~ trucks i decided to treat myself to a reliable new vehicle, but only had it yr and a half before it was nicked. Do a fair bit of london work so forced to get Euro 4 or higher. So i had to have a new ish van. In my mind my last truck was still new. So mixed feelings as yes this is new but i was happy with what i had! i am getting my old body put on it next week ( only 1 &1/2 yrs old). Its all i got left after the gypsies took the rest! What it does have though is AC. Cool air has never felt so good! will stick some pics up.
  22. Well after some consideration of which one to get i ended up getting a movano. I dont fancy having another visit form the gypsies. I got a new one( pre reg 11 plate). Cost the same as a 2010 transit with 10k on the clock. The new ones are twin rear wheel and rwd too. had a hire van ( ldv fwd ) and was getting stuck on everything that wasnt grass so got put off a fwd truck. It was a shame as saw a nice red movano , 10k on a 2009 reg with 15k miles. ally body and built in tool box. would have been perfect. Its too new to say but if i am honest its not quite as a effortless drive as a new transit, but that might be that it needs to lossen up a bit first. cheers

    truck body

hi all i have brand new scattolini tipper body currrently fitted to my vauxhall movano ( 11 reg) . i am getting my old chip box body fitted to me new truck so they will be using the ram and the lower frame of the new body but the actual body will be unbolted and not touched. this body is brand new( couple of days old not even chipped into yet). ideally i wish to sell it on. but tbh i have no idea as to its worth. worse case i will sell it to the scrap man but i feel its almost criminal to scrap a brand new body. any body interested? its in tadley, hampshire. will need colecting. i have taken some pics and will post up hopefully tonight. i will need to confirm but i may also have the tipper ram and bits from my transit tipper also available. I will be swapping the bodies next friday. please pm or reply if interested. cheers jose
  25. no afraid not, nor the hire vehicle we had, though next years renewal came in the other day and that would cover van hire. We had to badger the police all day for them to come out to take a crime statement ( all i wanted was the crime ref no) for me to get the insurance co to start moving. They are another joke, after saying give us all the paperwork within 7 days or we assume you dont wish to proceed ( r they joking?) we got it to them by monday for them to say they person dealing with it only works off the phones once a week on a friday so nothing is done till then. so another week to go by. I would love to say to these people sorry the accountant doing your wages this moth only works on it once a month so u will have to was another week or so before they bother to start sorting your wages. How fast would they moan then?
