    chippings

Hi all I am on the lookout for people/places that want chippings. Cant seem to give the stuff away! I am based in the wokingham /bracknell / Ascot area , Berkshire. If anybody is after any or knows of people or places that needs them please let me know (if you dont mind). Many thanks
  5. Horatio u need to watch out doing that many hrs u will burn out. Admittedly i used to do similar but have learnt the hard way that its just not healthy. my days are up at 6 then, work , price and pc off by 6 on a good day, 930-10 on a bad day. But i am learning to delegate the majority of climbing out to my guys as i cant do it all anymore. it has made a massive difference. And sometime u just have to say "ive reached my capacity" and then switch off. I never check emails/ phone calls on a sunday ( unless a message is left saying its an emergency). Its hard enough that u need at least 1 day a week off. Plus if and when kids come along they grow damn fast. Ive blinked and my boy is 7yrs old! cant tell exactly where those yrs went. And others will most like agree if your doing a job for somebody else and getting in at 930pm or so then something is seriously wrong. either they need to change or u need to be earning a good wack out of it. otherwise they are taking the micky. and just because you are new it doesnt mean u have to charge peanuts. all that happens is u work like a dog and u will keep the tight customers for ever who dont ever want to pay anymore. later on this will end up costing u even more cos u wont be out there charging new customers a fair rate as u will be doing the tight ones. trust me i know i still have a few as much as i try to shake them Thats my 2ps worth.
  6. Stupid tech always puts it on its side!

    2 possible jobs

No its goes straight to another garden, the house goes through some tight bends and corridors. wouldnt even get a ladder through. you would need to go through the neighbours garden, she is nice and would allow it as she wants it gone too. but when i was last there there was no access to her garden either. can go over the garage as fragile asbestos roof. I had a crane to do my job next door but it wont reach this tree. Sorry to sound negative but its a pig of a job!

    2 possible jobs

Fire would be the best way. I thought of mewp but no way to go through the house. I thought get a crane to lift in the mewp get the tree down into the next doors garden then get the crane back to remove the mewp and all the timber etc. Though part of the problem is the dead t limbs as it's a big tree

    2 possible jobs

No work in progress pics as I'm not doing it . Life is to short to worry about this kind of job. Problem is the best hugest points to tie into are really dead and sway good in a gentle breeze. And they are big enough poles when u get up close o them.

  13. Got a call from a lady with some stumps in wokingham berks. Needs to go through the house so ideally some one with a alpine magnum or similar. pm me and i can pass u her number. Also saw a Pig of a job, a multi stemmed large ash, part of the tree is dead ( the stems where u would ideally tie in to). Back garden No rear acces. big timber ( for doing it by hand) to far away for a crane ( maybe a massive one might reach). fences under neath for good measure! its in Early, Berks. got contact details if anybody is desperate for work but i can see you thanking me!
  14. thank you guys I will let them know in the morning as one of them was getting worried about this.
  15. So I think I get it but I want to be crystal clear as one of my guys is getting worried about this. I have a transit 3.5tonne Timber wolf 125 which states weight of 580odd kg All guts driving got theirs licenses after 97 but before 2013. So they are all ok to drive this. May thanks
  16. Not to mention they often have bigger homes too! Maybe not in the cities but else where they all seem to have they big plots
  17. Ive personally found that hard working positive attitude and a willing to listen and learn far out ways the tickets. by this i mean i have tried out climbers with more tickets than i have had hot dinners who were absolutely terrible, who climbed like they had only seen trees in the movies! against this i have employed general bods who were keen and more importantly had common sense who i would have been happy to trust them to have a go at lowering and all sorts as they as just had common sense, listened and worked. God i sound OLD! u willing to travel? Good luck
  18. Try sending the a charge for ur time, ie a couple of hundred quid or so. I know its never going to cover ur costs but u might get lucky and someting is better than nothing!
  19. i tried one of these out for a while. cuts terrible i found, best way to describe it was scratching at a branch more than cutting it. if you use a saw daily forget it. ok for joe public who uses it once or twice a year and digs dirt and stones etc with it. mine got hung on the wall for 6 mths before being chucked in the bin. for me it was a waste of money.
  20. I cant see why we dont have these over here. they look like they tick so many boxes so to soeak and obviously they work in the tree game. Why cant they be shipped over here:?
  21. i got a contact who constantly emails me as says " just cut the tree, its in london" every time i have to ask him where as london is a big place! the phone call with " how much to cut my tree" is almost weekly. even had a gardener mate ask me today how much to grind out a stump? umm where is it? how big is it? maybe i should invest in a crystal ball

    credit cards

I have a quick question hoing to answer a debate im having with the mother in law. I dont have the facilities to take payment via credit card. In the last 7 odd years i have had 2 requests for payment to be made by credit card. The mother in law thinks if i have this option advertised on the website etc i would get more work/enquires? Any advice/ experiences please. Cheers
  23. lol thats what we all want to lose!
  24. Tbh I can't give u an exact number as I drive and when it needs filling I fill. It is a 3.0 v6. They do do a v8 if that tickles ur fancy! Got to say I wasn't expecting much as it's american, it's got every toy u could want, they whole family love it. And it's a diddle to drive. Cheers
