    mini 4wd truck

Well went and saw and drove the little truck, took the 4wd version off road too. It was up at bruntingthrope test site. Got to say was impressed. They have a off road section that the Isuzu dealers were using which although isn't massive in size has a couple of steep hill ascents and descents. Also took it through water 2-3 ft deep at a guess. It had winter tyres on but otherwise it didn't blink or stutter at all! Apparently the Isuzu guys were impressed enough to blah test rides themselves. It's not comfy like a bigger truck or a pickup but then has much better bed for use as a work truck ( all be it a small one). I already have a 3.5ton truck and don't have space for another, this however will fit into my garage and be big enough to do the smaller jobs I am currently turning away as I'm too busy to do. Going to look at the prices next and go from there. The engine is a Suzuki model , he told what but tbh I forgot.

    mini 4wd truck

No it would be used like a regular vehicle on the road, not as an estate vehicle or yard vehicle. driving in winter with no sides. would freeze to death!

    mini 4wd truck

i had a quick read of online reviews and the Suzuki link / comparison was constantly made. funny thing is i need a small truck but the pick up route doesnt seem a good use of space. This does look like it fits a gap in the market. I have a 3.5 t truck for the main gang but this would be an ideal 2 man small job truck. Add to that i had an email from Peter from Pro tipper who says he is no longer making the beds ( the other route i was looking at) so it narrows choice down. And looking at the dimensions it should just squeeze into the garage.

    mini 4wd truck

i think seeing one would be nice, there is nothing to beat seeing something in the flesh. shame the payload is a bit small (under 700kg) . though at the cost for a 4wd mini truck i think it may be worth a look at least. they r having a event day in about 10 days, though its up in bruntingthorpe i think which is a good 3 hrs drive from me so too far. but u can drive them off apparently

Ye i heard that its a gearbox out job. Thats why i dont really want to have to pay for it myself. I need to find my paper work and have a look but like said if its commercial then normally its tough luck. It just annoys me as its very much a oh well never mind attitude form them, in fact the dealership told me to be patient a little long, then when i came in admitted it would be weeks before they potentially got the part in! uptil now it had been good, thing is i never wanted one, but thanks to the gypsie ( and police to e lesser extent) nicking my new transit i wished to avoid a repeat of truck theft. sometime i really do think why be legal. After been the victim of theft, the police then gave hundreds of ££s worth of ladders away to the gypsies that they were raiding to recover a mass of stolen vehicles it then follows that the insurance companies then proceed to fleece me for the next 5 yrs for making a claim! Ford denied all knowledge about being able to break into the trucks without out damaging them ( turns out it was know about but never acted on it or warned anybody). :mad1::mad1: makes me feel like the fool for working hard and paying taxes when it seems so many dont bother and have a easy life! Rant over!

    movano

Hi All Ive got a Vauxhall Movano twin wheel based model. Just a heads up sort of and possible asking for help. The Hydraulic pipe which connects the clutch pedal to the Servo ( not 100% as not a mechanic) failed the other day. If you look at it its a silver metal pipe which part of the way along has a small circular section which i believe is a 1 way valve. The back of this valve blew, losing all hydraulic pressure so no clutch. Pain in the ass big time but its only a pipe so at least not the actual clutch. So i thought! As it stands i have at best a 1 month waiting time for the bit! This is a 2 yr old truck, not done 20K and still under warranty. and the truck was empty at the time. So just be aware if you have one. tbh its been pretty good till now. These trucks are basically Renault traffics i believe, just different badges. Vauxhall didnt even want to give me the part number so i could try and source the part myself! If i can source the pipe they say they cant fit it under warranty as they have to source it. I explained to them (after telling them that got to be bollock) that the hire cost alone for a month will be less than getting it fitted anyway not to mention the PITA it is having a crappy hire van that just isnt set up for tree work! If anybody can help/ recommend a place i may be able to source a part the part number is 95507284 Also i dont know if anybody knows but to me a month seems a unacceptable length of time for a new vehicle that is being sold by 2 manufactures. Would there be some kind way of recouping hire costs? Not sure but perhaps small claims courts, refunds , something? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated. Many thanks Jose
  11. Duncan ground works takes it for about 30-40 £ a transit size load. The are by lightwater. They use to supply grab loaders to if needed.

  13. I use r j and sons, based in Maidenhead. Great guy. Google him or pm me for number. Not sure how busy he is though.
  14. Hi All I did think that if they were serious it wouldnt be hard to bring along a couple of wheels and bolts. Ok thanks guys, i will ponder it some more. Thanks for the replys. Jose
  15. I have a trailer which i would like to keep. I dont use it very often and was wondering if removing the wheels + a chain and ground anchor is better than a wheel clamp and chain and ground anchor? this would be inside a garage. The garage is in a block which is around the corner so i cant keep a close eye on it, it has no power either. Other wise i have the trailer in my garden which is a PITA to be honest. Just after peoples thoughts and any decent tips for trailer security. Many thanks

  20. Horatio u need to watch out doing that many hrs u will burn out. Admittedly i used to do similar but have learnt the hard way that its just not healthy. my days are up at 6 then, work , price and pc off by 6 on a good day, 930-10 on a bad day. But i am learning to delegate the majority of climbing out to my guys as i cant do it all anymore. it has made a massive difference. And sometime u just have to say "ive reached my capacity" and then switch off. I never check emails/ phone calls on a sunday ( unless a message is left saying its an emergency). Its hard enough that u need at least 1 day a week off. Plus if and when kids come along they grow damn fast. Ive blinked and my boy is 7yrs old! cant tell exactly where those yrs went. And others will most like agree if your doing a job for somebody else and getting in at 930pm or so then something is seriously wrong. either they need to change or u need to be earning a good wack out of it. otherwise they are taking the micky. and just because you are new it doesnt mean u have to charge peanuts. all that happens is u work like a dog and u will keep the tight customers for ever who dont ever want to pay anymore. later on this will end up costing u even more cos u wont be out there charging new customers a fair rate as u will be doing the tight ones. trust me i know i still have a few as much as i try to shake them Thats my 2ps worth.

    2 possible jobs

No its goes straight to another garden, the house goes through some tight bends and corridors. wouldnt even get a ladder through. you would need to go through the neighbours garden, she is nice and would allow it as she wants it gone too. but when i was last there there was no access to her garden either. can go over the garage as fragile asbestos roof. I had a crane to do my job next door but it wont reach this tree. Sorry to sound negative but its a pig of a job!

    2 possible jobs

Fire would be the best way. I thought of mewp but no way to go through the house. I thought get a crane to lift in the mewp get the tree down into the next doors garden then get the crane back to remove the mewp and all the timber etc. Though part of the problem is the dead t limbs as it's a big tree

    2 possible jobs

No work in progress pics as I'm not doing it . Life is to short to worry about this kind of job. Problem is the best hugest points to tie into are really dead and sway good in a gentle breeze. And they are big enough poles when u get up close o them.
