If they know where to look what about a microchip in the crankcase difficult to get to similar to the dog traceability scheme

    Tool thefts

The serial number is not on a national data base there is no method of tracing the purchaser of the saw from the serial number just look at the police auction sites

    Tool thefts

The resale value and traceability of recovered saws the police can’t prosecute if they can’t prove the saws stolen

    Tool thefts

Ok what could the saw manufacturers do to make theft of the tools of our trade more difficult ? im not thinking about throw away tools just the professional expensive ones i think that all pro tools should be automatically registered on a data base when purchased
  7. It’s temperature at night that should dictate when you prune not time of year wait until all heavy frosts have passed heavy prune good mulch to feed it should go well
  8. I believe that they profit greatly from the sale of tools to replace the ones we have had stolen so why should they do anything
  9. Remember it’s in the interest of the manufacturer that they don’t make them hard to steal or sell on
  10. Well draining topsoil will make the trench a bog garden make sure the soil is compacted I would use a clay loam and don’t allow water to flow into the trench
  11. I would not drill holes the drill will smear the clay and they will fill up with water , I would put a layer of stone in the bottom then put in the trees packing them in well with a good natural loam not one of the manufactured shite topsoils that seem all the rage water pipe to the roots and try to leave the surface flat or slightly raised to shed the water, planted a few golf course like this they seem to survive educate the client about watering

    Battery saw

Decided I need a battery saw so which one do I get thinking of a ms 200 with 12 inch bar. Any thoughts before splash the cash ? I liked the fine chain on the stihl
  13. It’s the reach that interests me
  14. I’m going to use it mainly for landscape with a tilt bucket, I liked the weight I’m going to tow with a Landy digs deeper than 216 with more reach, 125 looks too big for some of my works, I dig holes for gas governors
  15. Thinking about a Takeuchi 219 any thoughts or other suggestions
  16. I use similar chipper tow with defender 130
  17. They trade carry capacity on the truck for towing ability you need to look for a train mass of 7 tonnes
  18. You would need truck with 3500kg tow once trailer is added landrover transit type would struggle
  19. Here’s Merlin 13 1/2 stone and still thinks he’s a lap dog
  20. No I value experience over a college education, however my point is you don’t need experience or qualifications to buy a pickup and chainsaw and call yourself a arborist insured or not. Most home owners will go for the cheapest quote
  21. Too many arborist have never been to college or school buy a pickup and a chainsaw
