  1. Depends on the age of your kids it soon gets a pain to stop get out of the car open the gate pass stop the car and close especially on dark wet nights you should be able to automate for under about £8/900 excluding power
  2. You don’t need a frame to automate, if mine would use a single gate cut from best oak you have, proper morticed and tenon joints with dowels, hung on a metal post cladding with oak boards to match gate proper heavy duty hinges back hung not field gate hinges more super hinge this will allow adjustment in both planes ,maybe go for electric mag lock and arm automation the pressure on the gate in the closed position will keep it square The top and bottom rails should be the same size and the styles should match and if design allows a centre rail to mount motors to equalise pressure will give less twist don’t go for cheap automation three phase 24/36v brushless is the best
  3. All oak moves, nice straight knot free timber well jointed might work fitted these while back seasoned oak still moved used adjustable hinges to make work
  4. Try Barcham trees not rootball but pot never had a problem
  5. If oil is high in machine check not contaminated with diesel,
  6. You are never going to stop the professional thief, but I believe there are more lucrative things to steal than arboricultural equipment, it’s the opportunist that the tracker stops, or more realistically helps you find it in what ever woodland or caravan site it’s parked upon the problem then becomes one of getting the police to respond and reclaim the item!
  7. Try posting pictures again
  8. I fail to see why chipper manufacturers don’t fit trackers or immobilisers as standard, especially if you are going to leave it on a trailer overnight, they could be deeply embedded into the machine making removal difficult
  9. Td5 defenders had immobiliser fitted from factory may have been bypassed
  10. But if the machine is lost they get to sell another so no incentive for security
  11. No your right thought yours was pivot have you checked pump pressures mine was running low turned it up a bit improved machine no end did both injector and hydraulic
  12. Yours is pivot steer? Reverse drive?
  13. Try a proper alpine with wheel steering it will put yours to shame I’ve had both
  14. Not every one has the large cash reserve that you have, the capital to purchase a load of timber and the space to process are not available to everyone, in this life you have to make the best of what you’ve got, we should applaud anyone prepared to work to better themselves rather than tell them that they should do it another way
  15. Some people are time rich and cash poor I’ve been in that position if it works who are we to judge eighty pounds of unprocessed logs collected is a whole lot more than a bag
  16. Why does he take a bag of logs ? Surely he should get unprocessed logs to cut and split in his own time, this makes financial sense. A days labour for a truckload of unprocessed timber I think is cheap labour, he already has the gear
  17. Can’t enlarge picture not registered on other forum!
  18. Use a dryer log maybe or try to seal the moisture in and dry it slower showed it to the wife loves it but not green!
  19. Not possible to put a gear box on ?
  20. Big Jenz shredders have had them for years cage drive to wheels powered from machine hydraulics radio controlled, don’t see caravan movers being much good unless on hard surface
  21. I have chipped with my bandit 90 into the back of a friends transit the chips hit the back of the cab and bounced back out, it’s happier filling a 7.5 tonne and is capable of filling much bigger,it wasn’t to slow filling a artic trailer why chip 8 inch logs when you can sell these for more than chip or at least dispose at no cost ,is the difference between the chippers that great on brash? they work well being loaded by grab but the time and labour saved with grab loading is lost on filling transit quickly and waiting for it to return
  22. An 8 inch chipper will fill the transit in minutes, what is the benefit ?
  23. Try atom hydraulics mark or Tom 01376 348889 pictures and an numbers would help they repaired mine a while ago
  24. Put it on your tractor and try it or at least try before you buy all chippers chip how well depends on many factors
  25. My 520 just manages to lift a bag if straight and rear weights on couldn’t lift a bag onto or off a vehicle, and don’t try turning
