  1. finaly i can post some pics of me landies
  2. is there any issue with losing power over the length of the wire from the landy battery to the trailer. Tommer - any fuses involved - or unnesesary?
  3. I know its a bit lazy:blushing: - but does any one do a kit so that i can connect my ifor tipper straight to my landy battery so i dont have to keep taking the trailer battery off and charging it? I guess its just heavy duty connectors and wiring with an inline fuse that can be cable tied to the chasis from the battery to near where the plug for the lights connect?
  4. do you have a list of the stolen kit. just on the off chance we get offered anything.
  5. try your local t shirt/ uniform printers. have tried companies like strauss but has worked out up to double the price and quality hasnt been an issue just check a sample before buying
  6. depressing - but few people would know any difference they may even think how butch he is compaired to that other wimp in the advert next to it - wearing all that unnessesary safety equipment

    suck or blow

may sound like a silly question but should the cooling fan on my 07 6 inch timberwolf suck cold air in from the front when running or blow the warm air out? currently its a sucker but my old entec is a blower - which seems to make more sense as the timberwolf seems to collect particles on the grill blocking it. thanks Dean

    unimog

was contemplating getting a mog too no piece of kit is ever ideal for everything i came to the conclusion that 60% of our work is more suited to a 130 with tow behind the rest can be done with the landy any ways. I dont want 60% of our work to be subsidising piece of kit that isnt realy needed
  13. great little saws for what it sounds like he needs it for.
  14. If you can avoid the lift then do so. The original suspension units and springs are pretty good and not too pricey worth checking and replacing all the bushes on the rear end while your at it - arb truck rear ends allways take a hammering:blushing:
  15. no but I could do with a new drivers side door in white - maybe we could do a swap:biggrin:
  16. many of the guys in this part of the world seem to be suspicious of each other which is a bit of a shame as its not what I'm used to. I often struggle to get a wave back from certain guys. having said that there are some good eggs. Im sure that this is pretty much the case everywhere tho?
  17. whats this every one selling their landies... sounds like the market will be flooded guys
  18. if your clients are vat reg and you have plenty of out goings then register for vat write a profit loss form for your yearusing rough monthly figures in and out and see if it would be worth while
  19. had the old owner disconected the no stress on purpose? worth an ask maybe - if he couldnt get to the bottom of the problem he may have been opperating it manually using the stop go buttons. at least you might findout what hes already tried in order to fix it?

    Unimog

Well I ended up taking a punt on another 130 landy instead. Still got the mog in mind but perhaps at the end of next summer. It'll give me chance to learn more about them, keep an eye open for a nice one and a bit longer to save up for a good one. going to have to have a rejig of what kit we've got. I like the idea of having a timber trailer with grab to go along with it too - think this would save us loads of time at certain jobs
  21. Hi Pete I was originally shopping for a new machine - I Knew it was likely to be either TW or Green mech. The machine i bought was a second hand TW with 120 hours on the clock and was near reading, a private sale rather than from a dealer. My local tw dealer is in carmarthen. I hadnt heard of any of the companies you mentioned The reason I chose this machine was that it was spottless. In much better condition than any nearly new machine I had seen at the show or previously and for an excelent price. I was told at the APF that there were some new potential dealers - dont know where greenmech have got with this but if I had a problem with a new machine under warranty I would want it sorting out ASAP with minimal downtime and minimal effort on my part. without any dealer support in SWales for green mech I didnt want to risk it. (perhaps i would have had this in mid if i was looking for a second hand GM) I havent necessarily turned my back on greenmech there was just a different machine at the right price at the right time. I fact talking to TW and green mech representatives put greenmech more firmly in my mind.
  22. I dont really know about the values new and second hand of different kit but might be worth while looking at residual values of the different machines. I guess if you were to get an extra two years of life out of your prefered machine the trailer test would pay for itself and if the guy you've trained was to leave in this time period you may be due his training fee back from him if this is in his contract. from my experience i dont think the tw's and green mechs have the same longevity and possibly more down time (depending on maintenance of course) but are certainly in demand as second hand machines all the same. also depends on your lads - depending on personality extra training can be of some value from a motivational point of view
  23. If we all agree that that the heavier machines are bound to last longer wouldnt it be a better investment to pay for your guys or at least one of them to take their trailer test with a provision in their contract stating that if they leave your company within a certain time scale they pay all or some of the training costs?? rather than get a lighter machine as a compromise. would also increase your carrying capacity to from jobs with the addition of a trailer
  24. was shopping for a chipper at the APF Out of all the stalls i found the greenmech guys the best (most interested in selling something) and was impressed by the features of the quadchip. I was close to moving from timberwolf to green mech - but then a good low hours 6inch Twolf turned up for the right money. the other problem in my neck of the woods is dealer support. there isnt any.
  25. the caps normally get lost when the bearings go as the area gets hot and melts it first sign to check if your inpecting the bearings or suspect that they have gone
